A range of 19 inch rack-mounting empty cases, available in a variety of formats and sizes. All have a wrap-around style case with removable top cover, extruded front and rear panels and are of all aluminium construction. Front panels have a powder-coat painted finish, in dawn grey (BS4800-10A03) or black.
A designation strip is fitted on the front panel of 1U cases, two designation strips on 2U and 3U cases. All cases have a lacing bar fitted to the rear panel.
1U cases are also available with rear panels pre-punched to suit 14 Canford Universal Series connectors, eg. Neutrik D-series XLR (for details see Universal Series Connectors). Mains connections can be made using Neutrik Powercon, which use the same hole cut-out. Unused holes can be filled with D-series blanking plates. Connectors may be surface or reverse-mounted. Connector fixing hardware is included.
Cases are also available in Canford’s ‘Universal Modular Connection Panel’ style, which are a range of multipurpose modular connection panels with an almost infinite number of configurations. These are a development from the long-established Canford ‘Universal Connection System’, to accommodate connectors that are too large for the original system. They allow the user to mount virtually any combination of audio, video, data and power connectors in a 2U rack case or panel without costly custom metalwork. The case rear-panels (optionally also the front) are manufactured from rigid 2U aluminium extrusion, with cut-outs for 6 modular connector plates. These fit flush to the case panel surface, secured by four countersunk screws (a full set is supplied with the panel) which fit into recessed threaded bushes. This construction permits an extremely elegant visual appearance.
A very wide range of connection plates are available, each of which is supplied without connectors, which should be ordered separately as required, together with their appropriate mounting hardware. These plates are square and thus can be mounted into the panel in any orientation required. All the Canford Universal Series of connectors can also be used with these plates, thus permitting a single 2U panel to cover virtually every audio or video connector in regular professional use. Blank panels are steel and are suitable for user configuration for more specialised applications.
