ELECTROVOICE MICROPHONES - Studio

These end-firing, large diaphragm dynamic microphones offer performance which is comparable with condenser based designs, in considerably more rugged format. The classic RE20 is synonymous with American AM broadcasters, yet equally applicable to drums, or thrusting insides a saxophone. The RE27N/D updates the tradition with greater sensitivity and wider response.

RE20 - Dynamic, cardioid, live instrument / announcer

This extremely versatile, venerable, broadcasting icon is used widely for presenter or DJ work in hundreds of AM stations, yet is also the mainstay of many an recording engineer's armoury. The heavy-weight case conceals large diaphragm and low-mass aluminum voice coil to give 'studio condenser' response, yet no powering is required and the microphone is near-immune to overloading. The unique EV dual-ported, continuously Variable-D design offers minimal proximity effect, and a steel case and hum-bucking coil provide exceptional magnetic shielding. A 'bass tilt down' switch corrects spectrum balance for use in long-reach situations or other applications where bass attenuation is needed. A true cardioid microphone, the RE20 offers greatest rejection at 180 degrees off-axis, directly to the rear of the microphone. An integral blast and wind filter covers each acoustic opening.

Applications: Accordion, acoustic strings, brass, guitar amplifier, kick drum, snare, speech, tom, woodwinds . Frequency response: 45-18000Hz. Sensitivity: 1.5mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 217 x 55 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 737g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, hard case, zipped vinyl pouch.
Optional accessories: 309A shock-mounted stand adapter for use with floor stand or recording boom.

RE27N/D - Dynamic, cardioid, live instrument / announcer

The RE27N/D utilises the proven design concepts pioneered by the RE20 and incorporates neodymium magnet technology to create a dynamic microphone that exhibits higher output and even wider frequency response than the RE20. The continuously Variable-D design reduces bass-boosting 'proximity effect' to maintain a uniform low-frequency response, up close or at a distance. There are three switchable filters; one high-frequency and two low-frequency. Due to the increased sensitivity provided by N/DYM, the switchable filters enable the selection of either a flat high-end response or a shelving emphasis above 4 kHz for enhanced vocal presence, and the option of two low-frequency roll-offs. An integral blast and wind filter covers the microphone head and vents along the body, preventing 'pop' breath sounds or excessive sibilance.

Applications: Accordion, acoustic strings, brass, choir, guitar amplifier, kick drum, snare, speech, tom, woodwinds. Frequency response: 40-20000Hz. Sensitivity: 3.1mV/Pascal, open circuit. Dimensions: 217 x 54 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 709g.

Included accessories: Stand adapter, hard case, zipped vinyl pouch.
Optional accessories: 309A shock-mounted stand adapter for use with floor stand or recording boom.

309A SHOCKMOUNT, Cradle style, for RE20, RE27N/D

This suspension shock mount was designed specifically for use with the RE20 and RE27N/D dynamic microphones. It provides 'near-perfect' shock isolation for the already internally, shock-mounted RE20 or RE27N/D. For most applications, the Model 309A may be attached directly to the recording boom or to a floor stand. A stand adapter with 5/8 inch thread is provided.

The design allows quick installation of the RE20 or RE27N/D microphone without tools. A 'bayonet' locking action assures that the microphone will not fall out of the shock mount under its own weight and a set screw can be tightened to lock the microphone in place after it has been properly positioned. Four neoprene shock cords suspend and support the microphone within an aluminum and steel frame-work.
