FOCUSRITE AUDIO INTERFACES - Thunderbolt

Built on Focusrite’s decades of interface design experience and attention to audio detail, this series of audio interface has been designed for the most intense studios where versatility and power is required. These rackmount interfaces feature connectivity including Thunderbolt 3, DigiLink, Dante, ADAT and S/PDIF, and a dynamic range of up to 121dB.


RED 8LINE Rackmount, 58-in/64-out

Red 8Line has a total of 58 inputs and 64 outputs, including two Red Evolution mic preamplifiers, independent left/right monitor outs, 8x balanced line inputs and outputs on DB25 connectors, 32-channels of Dante I/O, 16-channel ADAT I/O at 48kHz, and stereo S/PDIF I/O. 'Professional-grade' 24-bit/192kHz analogue to digital and digital to analogue convertors, an analogue to digital dynamic range of 119dB, and a digital to analogue dynamic range of 121dB have been calibrated by Focusrite to provide 'the best balance of sound quality, dynamic range and conversion latency'.

Each of the two digitally-controlled Red Evolution microphone preamps provide up to 63dB gain, with individual +48V phantom power, 80Hz (+/-3Hz) high-pass filter, and phase reverse. An option to stereo-link the two channels, and a switchable 'Air mode' can also be employed for better result - with Air mode mimicking the sonic profile of the Focusrite ISA 110 input module.

For users who work in Pro Tools HD and other DAWs, switching without reconfiguring is made easy with both mini-DigiLink and Thunderbolt 3 connections. A change to the host mode either in RedNet Control software, or using the front panel changes the DAW. On-board Dante connection enables Red 8Line to communicate with industry-standard Audio-over-IP equipment. The interface has built-in monitor control for mono, stereo and multi-channel monitoring environments up to 7.1, whilst compatibility with Focusrite RedNet R1 desktop remote controller allows flexibility and customised presets for immersive monitoring environments including Dolby Atmos.

Three LCD displays are provided for level metering of any input or output block, as well as main monitor and headphone outputs. Two 6.35mm jack headphone outputs provide monitoring to headphones with an impedance of 32ohms to 600ohms. With the exception of the headphone outputs and two instrument inputs via 6.35mm jack on the front facing panel, all I/O connectivity is on the rear facing panel. This includes 2x balanced 3-pin XLR microphone inputs, channel 1-8 line inputs on DB25 connector, channel 1-8 output on D-sub connector, L/R monitor outputs on 6.35mm jack sockets, and S/PDIF I/O on RCA (phono). Optical I/O channels 1-8 and 9-16 are by way of TOSlink connection, word clock and loop sync are by way of BNC connectors, and Dante connections 1 and 2 are via RJ45 connectors. Dual Thunderbolt 3 and Pro Tools HD interfaces are also provided. 100V to 240V AC mains input is via IEC connector.

RED 16LINE Rackmount, 64-in/64-out

Focusrite Red 16Line has the same functionality as Red 8Line, however it has a total of 64-inputs and 64-outputs with 16x balanced line inputs and 16x balanced line outputs on DB25 connectors. The additional I/O is positioned above channel 1-8 DB25 type connectors.
