RADIAL SWITCHERS

A series of switchers from Radial, designed for the rerouting of an audio input signal to a number of outputs. Commonly used in live touring situations, the switchers can be employed for use with playback systems, microphones, or instruments.

HOTSHOT DM-1 Microphone Switcher for Dynamic Mic

Manufactured from 14-gauge steel and finished in a black enamel coating, HotShot DM-1 is a dynamic microphone switcher with a momentary toggle footswitch, designed to allow an artist on stage to redirect a dynamic vocal microphone to feed the stage a monitoring system and therefore communicate with band members or technicians. As a passive floor-box, HotShot DM-1 is equipped with 3-pin XLR mic input, momentary footswitch, direct and switched 3-pin XLR outputs.

The direct output ('A') connects to the PA system as usual. The switched output (OUTPUT B) connects to a spare channel on the monitor console. When the footswitch is depressed, the device switches the mic signal to output 'B' and allows a vocalist to use their mic for confidential communication through stage monitors, in-ear systems and intercom systems. When the footswitch is released, normal operation resumes. A ground lift switch allows the user to reduce ground loop hum by disconnecting pin-1 at the 3-pin XLR output 'B' stage.

Frequency response: 20Hz - 20kHz. Dynamic range: Unlimited. Dimensions (LxWxD): 99 x 92 x 51mm. Weight: 0.56kg

HOTSHOT 48V Microphone Switcher for Condenser Mic

HotShot 48V has the same primary functionality as HotShot DM-1, however it has been designed for compatibility with a condenser microphone. LED indicators display the active output, and the footswitch itself can be configured for latching or momentary action via a switch on the rear facing panel. A time-delay microcontroller combined with transformer-coupled XLR connections ensures 'completely silent' operation, with no audible pops or clicks when switching. Other switching includes phantom power on/off, and ground lift.

While HotShot 48V is specifically designed for switching condenser microphone outputs, it can also be combined with a dynamic microphone. Power can be provided by way of the included 9V, 400mA power supply or via standard pedalboard multi-output power supply.

Frequency response: 20Hz - 20kHz. Dynamic range: Greater than 140dB. Maximum input: +26dBu. Dimensions (LxWxD): 153 x 127 x 46mm. Weight: 0.85kg

SW8 AUTO SWITCHER 8-Channel

Radial SW8 is a 19-inch rack-mountable, 8-channel redundant backup switching interface designed for live concert touring and stage shows that employ pre-recorded backing tracks as part of the sound production. SW8 provides the means to switch to a backup multi-track machine if ever the main unit should suffer a failure, enabling the show to go on uninterrupted. Automatic switching is performed by sensing a pre-recorded drone track from the master multi-track. Should the drone disappear the SW8 will seamlessly switch to the backup multi-track. SW8 can also be manually switched by the front panel AB selector, or footswitch.

SW8 works by switching two balanced 8-channel line inputs between one 8-channel thru-put. For flexibility, SW8 thru-puts both line level and microphone level signals, therefore making it easy to interface the device at the mix-position using it’s line-level thru-put, or on-stage using the transformer isolated XLR direct box outputs to feed mic-level signals to a multicore. To accommodate larger 16/24-track playback, SW8 is equipped with a link function that allows several units to be slaved together.

The front facing panel houses outputs 1-8 by way of transformer isolated 3-pin XLR connections with independent pin-1 ground lift switches; LEDs and switches for mute, standby, input select; rotary control for threshold, and alarm to indicate loss of drone track. The rear facing panel houses 6.35mm TRS jack inputs for channels A and B, 8-channel thru-put by way of D-sub connector, A and B D-sub input connectors, contact alarm input, and footswitch/remote input. An auto-switch gate has a 2kHz/OFF/1kHz toggle and 6.35mm jack connection.

Frequency response: 20Hz - 20kHz. Dynamic range: Greater than 120dB. Gain: -20dB. Maximum input: +26dBu. Dimensions (LxWxD): 559 x 264 x 114mm. Weight: 4.4kg
