MUXLAB AUDIO AND VIDEO ADAPTERS - Over Cat5e

Used in pairs, these useful devices (usually known as baluns in the data world) allow the transmission of audio and video signals on existing UTP and FTP structured wiring systems, either as part of a permanent installation or for a temporary rig, possibly avoiding the need for special cable runs.

All of this series are passive devices and are housed in compact plastic boxes. The Cat5 connection is normally an RJ45 socket, a few units have screw terminal connections.

Unless stated as being a 2-pack, all types are priced and sold SINGLY. These units must be used in pairs with one device at each end of the cabling.

AUDIO

500028 Stereo, 2x male RCA

Two mono or one stereo high quality line-level audio circuits, via two RCA (phono) plugs on flying leads for direct connection to equipment. Bandwidth 20Hz-20kHz, -3dB. May be used stereo or as two mono channels in opposite directions simultaneously. Maximum transmission distance with 24AWG Cat5E UTP is 1km. Available as 500028-2PK two pack.

500028-WP-UK Wallplate

MuxLab Stereo Hi-Fi Wall-Plate Balun (500028-WP-UK) allows an unbalanced line-level Hi-Fi stereo analogue audio to be transmitted via single Cat5e/6 cable in a point-to-point connection to distances of up to 3,250ft / 1km. The product is designed for audio applications where full-range, hi-fidelity audio frequency response is required. Designed to be compatible with UK standard 86 x 86mm back boxes and EU 50 x 50mm face plate openings. Sold individually but used in pairs, the Stereo Hi-Fi Balun can be also used with the 500028 (male RCA connectors) or the 500028-F (female RCA connectors).

500028-F Stereo, 2x female RCA

As 50028 but 2x RCA sockets. Available as 500028-F-2PK two pack.

500033 Quad, 4x female RCA

Four mono or two stereo line level audio circuits, via four RCA (phono) sockets. Bandwidth up to 300m transmission 60Hz-20kHz, -3dB. Bandwidth up to 1.5km transmission 100Hz-20kHz. May be used with signals passing in opposite directions simultaneously. Maximum transmission distance with 24AWG Cat5E UTP is 1.5km.

500027 Stereo, 2x male RCA

A dual channel unit that allows one stereo unbalanced analogue audio signal to be transmitted over Cat5E cable. The audio connection is via RCA (phono) plugs on short tails. Bandwidth up to 300m transmission 60Hz-20kHz, -3dB. Bandwidth up to 1.5km transmission 100Hz-20kHz.

500030 Stereo, 3.5mm jack

A dual-channel unit that allows one stereo unbalanced analogue audio signal to be transmitted over Cat5E cable. The audio connection is via a 3.5mm stereo jack plug on a short tail. Bandwidth up to 300m transmission 60Hz-20kHz, -3dB. Bandwidth up to 1.5km transmission 100Hz-20kHz.

500019 Analogue audio, 1x male RCA

A single channel unit that allows one unbalanced analogue audio signal to be transmitted over one pair of a Cat5E cable. The audio connection is an RCA (phono) plug, the Cat5E pair via screw terminals. The unit is designed in a very compact housing to allow it to be plugged directly into the video source/destination equipment (58 x 16 x 16mm). The Cat5E cable is broken out into separate pairs for connection units, the unit incorporates a cable clamp. Bandwidth up to 300m transmission 60Hz-20kHz, -3dB. Bandwidth up to 1.5km transmission 100Hz-20kHz.

500020 Digital audio, 1x male RCA

A single-channel unit that allows one SPDIF unbalanced digital audio signal to be transmitted over one pair of a Cat5E cable. Maximum transmission distance 180 metres.

500025, 500026

These enable an AES/EBU balanced digital audio signal or balanced analogue audio to be carried over Cat5E cable. Audio connection is XLR 3-pin male (500025) or 3-pin female (500026), Cat5E connection is screw terminal inside a cable gland. Maximum transmission distance for analogue line level 1.5km, mic level 900m, AES/EBU digital 380m.

VIDEO

500302 CATV

This high bandwidth (up to 900MHz) Balun converts 75-ohm coaxial cable to a single pair of Cat5 UTP cable with low insertion loss. Designed for use in schools, government offices, and hotels, 500302 supports broadband internet and digital cable to create a neater cabling solution with longer runs. Bandwidth 5-900MHz, -3dB. Maximum distance 100m.

500306 CATV, shielded

Allows one RG6 coaxial cable to be converted to and transmitted via Cat5e/6/7 STP or UTP. Normally used in pairs and when used with shielded twisted pair cable a greater RF amplification can be supported and a greater distance (than the 500302) can be reached. Bandwidth 5-900MHz, -3dB. Maximum transmission distance 100m.

AUDIO/VIDEO

500039 Stereo Hi-Fi and video, 3x male RCA

Discontinued

Allows one composite video plus one full-bandwidth stereo audio to be transmitted over Cat5E cable. Connections are RCA (phono) plugs on short tails. Audio bandwidth 20Hz-20kHz, -3dB. Maximum transmission distance 675 metres.
