LUSEM OXLINX ACTIVE OPTICAL CABLES - HDMI High speed with Ethernet, DVI

Lusem's 'OxLinx' series, active, optical HDMI cables are intended for applications where longer cable-run lengths than those obtainable with standard copper HDMI cables are required. They take power from the HDMI connection on the send and receive devices. They are also useful where the cable needs to pass through environments with high electrical interference.

The cable diameter is only 3.4mm and comprises four optical fibres for the video and audio signals, six copper wires for HDMI control signalling and CEC functions and Kevlar reinforcement to give a pulling strength of 500N (50kg). The connectors, which contain the send and receive electronics, are a similar size to those in copper HDMI cables, with a cross section of 19.6mm x 11.2mm.

They offer a considerably more elegant and cost-effective solution for long cable runs than Cat5E cable with converter box systems.

Applications include professional AV systems interconnection and indoor and outdoor digital signage and kiosks, plus home theatre systems in larger properties.

Cables are available in a range of lengths from 5 to 100 metres; all cables have LSOH (low smoke zero halogen) cable jacket. They handle 4K at 30Hz, 1080p at 60Hz Full HD signals, multi-channel audio and are HDMI 1.4 compliant. Power consumption is 0.5W. For technical specification see manufacturer's data sheet.

Terminated with micro HDMI type D connectors and supplied with screw-locking adapters to fit full-size, type A, HDMI connectors. Also known as the 'pluggable' versions, LHM-P cables were developed to aid fixed installation; the micro HDMI connectors reducing the likelihood of snagging as the cable is pulled through conduit, fed through voids or behind plaster board. Other benefits may include applications where cables must pass through congested and/or small apertures, such as internally wired brackets and mounts.

Lusem is a subsidiary of LG Corporation in Korea and focuses on design and manufacture of display circuit devices for LG Display & LG Electronics.

Ordering Notes:

(1) LUSEM ACTIVE HDMI cables require a typical operating voltage of 5V DC (Min. 4.8V – Max. 5.3V) at both Source and Display HDMI connector. HDMI compliant equipment will provide this via Pin.18. Where a connected device fails to provide sufficient operating voltage an external power inserter may be considered.
(2) LUSEM LHM cables are for fixed installation only and not intended nor suitable for deployable applications.

The term HDMI v1.4 is no longer used to describe an HDMI cable and instead is referred to as 'High speed with Ethernet', For further information on HDMI Standards, go to www.hdmi.org.
