This essential cleaning kit for opticalCON Duo and Quad cable and chassis connectors is also suitable for ST, SC and FC connectors and couplers. Two cleaning methods are supported, the wiping of a cable face across a lint-free cloth laid on a flat rubber surface with solvent applied, or the insertion of a special dry-wipe tool into a coupler with a fibre mated at the rear.
Both opticalCON cable types must be disassembled giving access to the fibre faces for wiping. Duo chassis connector faces may be cleaned without disassembly using the dry-wipe tool, or by disconnecting the LC connectors from the rear and wiping. LC connectors must be unmated from the rear of the Quad chassis housing and wiped on a lint-free cloth. Standard ST, SC and FC cable faces may be wiped if un-mated or cleaned within a coupler using the appropriate dry wipe tool and adaptor.
The kit comprises a 400x magnification hand microscope with an adapter to allow fibre-face inspection of LC duplex and simplex connectors. An additional adapter suits 2.5mm ferrule ST, SC and FC connectors.
Two rotary cleaning tools are included in the kit. A 1.25mm ferrule dry cleaner with square locator for opticalCON Duo chassis connectors and standard LC couplers. A second circular 2.5mm ferrule tool is suitable for ST, SC and FC couplers. The tool tip has a twisting action when inserted, which cleans both the fibre face and the inside of the coupler. Cleaning tape is automatically fed during each insertion.
Lint-free wipes are supplied in a drawer, along with a non-flammable cleaning solution in an aerosol dispenser. A rubber pad on the drawer unit acts as a flat, soft backing for the wipes during cable-face cleaning.
All items are contained in a hard plastic case. Replacement consumable items may be ordered separately.
