These boompoles have been designed and manufactured by Ambient Recording of München, Germany for aiding audio capture in feature film recording, broadcast recording, ENG, and sound capture where extra reach is required. QP 5 Feature Film Series - Cabled
Quickpole Series 5 range is a series of finely engineered, carbon-fibre boompoles with five sections. They are constructed using ‘UHM fibre layering’ to give increased rigidity at longer lengths whilst maintaining a lightweight feel.
Factory installed cables are either coiled or straight and are concealed within the boompole tubing. The cables are terminated with a side entry output with either 3-pin or 5-pin XLR connector. Cable kits can also be purchased separately and retrofit as replacements or alternative termination types. Boompoles with a suffix of CCM/CCS have an installed coiled cable with modular outlet and boompoles with a suffix of SCM/SCS have an installed straight cable with flow-through outlet and adapter.
A newly designed collapsing part that employs Teflon sheeting and silicone-lubricated felts allows for a smoother extension and collapse, whilst an ‘anti-twist’ mechanism between the pole sections replaces the retention pin of the 4-series poles.
QXS Light Boompole Series – Cabled
QXS range is a series of carbon-fibre, 5-section boompoles designed specifically for documentary and ENG booming work. They are constructed using pull-braiding carbon-fibre tubing with 1mm wall thickness, reducing the weight compared to the QP feature series. Screw locking rings and other mechanical parts are machined from aircraft aluminium, and a stainless steel 3/8 inch mounting thread has been designed to ‘survive thousands of microphone changes’.
Wiring options include either mono 3-pin XLR or stereo 5-pin XLR terminations, and the output can be of either ‘flow-through’ sideways outlet, whereby the cable exits the boompole via a slot located on the side of the handle and is terminated with corresponding plug; or ‘bottom’ outlet whereby the output termination is integrated into the end of the boompole handle. The latter option does not have a protruding cable at the handle.
