CANFORD ACOUSTIC EARTUBES

A range of straight and curly acoustic eartubes, in several type and colour variants typically used by broadcast presenters but also applicable for communications systems. Made to Canford’s specifications, these eartubes are made from flexible PVC fitted with a medium size, soft skeletal earmould, right (ET-RM) or left (ET-LM) profile, that allows the acoustic tube to be held firmly in the ear without blocking ambient noise. Alternative side and sizes of earmoulds can be ordered separately. The disposable models (AET5 and AET6) are fitted with a silicon eartip (ST1). For professional presenters, a custom moulding facility is available, which gives a perfect fit in to the ear making it considerably more comfortable during long periods of use. Custom fit models are identical in specification, but the earpiece is made from translucent acrylic material. The eartubes have standard snap-ring couplers which mate with most earphone acoustic drivers including those from Canford and Telex. Adapters are also available that facilitate the use of Walkman or “bud” type audio drivers.

Custom earmoulds are made from a mould taken from the user’s ear. Any hearing aid or audiology centre can take ear impressions. It is a simple and painless process taking about 15 minutes. Ask the audiologist to take a semi-deep impression, using two-part silicon impression material, to the second bend in the ear, to include the helix and concha. Make sure that the impressions are clearly marked and that the name you wish to show on the final product is enclosed. If you have difficulty in finding a suitable Audiologist, or discretion for a professional artist is required, we can provide contact details for suitable clinics in London. We regret that Canford cannot make arrangements for the creation of moulds. Contact Technical Support for datasheet 02-166 for more information about custom earmoulds, and for the special procedures required in processing these orders.
