AUDIO-TECHNICA STEREO MICROPHONES

Ranging from simple, battery powered devices, for use with consumer video cameras, to a large-diaphragm, mid-side design for professional recording, these are all condenser microphones, either battery powered or requiring phantom power.

AT8022

Intended for video-camera mounted use, stereo field recording, interviews and home recording, perhaps with handheld digital recorders, this stereo condenser microphone has two coincident capsules in an X-Y configuration. For use with both consumer and professional equipment, it is supplied with two cables, one balanced, one unbalanced, with 2x 3-pin XLR and 1x 3.5mm 3-pole jack connectors respectively. It may be powered by a single AA battery, 700 hours, or 11-52V DC phantom power when used with the balanced cable. The power switch has a third position which introduces a low-frequency roll-off, 80 Hz, 12 dB/octave, to reduce unwanted low frequency noise. The output connector is a 5-pin male XLR, wired balanced. Maximum input: 128 dB SPL. Response: 20Hz-15kHz, sensitivity 12.5mV/Pa. Impedance: 250-300 ohms. Dimensions: 186mm long, 47.6mm head, 21mm maximum body, diameter. Weight: 247g.

Included accessories: 2x cables, each 2 metres, with XLR-5 to connect to the microphone, AT8405A stand clamp for 5/8 inch thread, windscreen, battery, soft protective pouch.

BP4025

Designed for broadcast and professional recording, this stereo condenser design has two large-diaphragm capsules in 'an innovative coincident capsule configuration', producing an X/Y stereo image. The large capsules offer 'exceptionally low noise'. Two switches provide a low-frequency roll-off filter, 80 Hz, 12 dB/octave, and 10dB pad. The output connector is a 5-pin male XLR. 11-52V DC phantom power. Maximum input: 145dB SPL; 155 dB SPL, with pad. Response: 20-17,000 Hz, sensitivity 25.1mV/Pa. Impedance: 170 ohms. Dynamic range: 131dB, 1 kHz, at maximum SPL. Noise: -80dB, 1kHz, 1Pa. Dimensions: 186mm long, 47.6mm head, 21mm body, diameters. Weight: 269g.

Included accessories: Cable; 5.0 metre stereo cable with 5-pin XLR-F connector at the microphone terminated by 2x 3-pin XLR-M connectors. AT8405A stand clamp for 5/8 inch thread, windscreen, soft protective pouch.

BP4029

This lightweight stereo shotgun is 'engineered for high-end broadcast and production use' and finished in black. With independent line-cardioid and figure-of-eight elements configured in an MS (Mid-Side) arrangement with switch-selectable internal matrixing, this design offers the choice of selecting a left-right stereo output, wide or narrow, or discrete Mid-Side signals for later manipulation. A switch provides a low-frequency roll-off filter, 80Hz, 12 dB/octave.

The output connector is a 5-pin male XLR. 11-52V DC phantom power. Maximum input: 123dB SPL, mid; 127dB SPL, side; 126dB SPL, LR stereo; all for 1% T.H.D at 1kHz. Response: 40-20,000Hz. Sensitivity: 31.6 / 19.9 / 15.8 mV/Pa, mid / side / LR stereo, open circuit. Impedance: 200 ohms. Dynamic range: 101dB, mid and side; 102dB, LR stereo. At 1kHz and maximum SPL. Noise: -72 / -68 / -70dB, mid / side / LR stereo, 1kHz at 1Pa. Dimensions: 236mm long, 21mm diameter. Weight: 103g.

Included accessories: Cable; 610mm stereo cable with 5-pin XLR-F connector at the microphone terminated by 2x 3-pin XLR-M connectors. AT8405A stand clamp for 5/8 inch thread, AT8134 windscreen, 5/8 to 3/8 inch threaded adapter, protective carrying case.

AT4050ST

With independent cardioid and figure-of-eight condenser condenser elements, this is a side-address, Mid-Side stereo microphone 'engineered for professional recording, broadcast and sound reinforcement'. A switch provides for selection of Mid-Side mode, for external manipulation, and two internally-matrixed stereo modes, 90 and 127 degrees. The dual-diaphragm capsules 'maintain precise polar pattern definition across the full frequency range'. Transformerless circuitry 'virtually eliminates low-frequency distortion'.

The 2-micron-thick, vapour-deposited gold diaphragms undergo a five-step aging process so that the optimum characteristics remain constant over years of use; the open acoustical environment of the symmetrical housing assembly minimizes unwanted internal reflections. A high-pass filter, 80 Hz 12 dB/octave, and 10 dB pad may be switched into use. The output connector is a 5-pin female XLR. Requires 48V DC phantom power.

Elements: Externally-polarised (DC bias) condenser. Maximum input: 149dB SPL, 159dB SPL with pad. Response: 20Hz-18kHz. Sensitivity: 7.9 mV/ Pa, stereo 90 degrees; 15.8mV/Pa Mid and Side. Impedance: 50 ohms. Dynamic range: 134dB Mid, 132dB Side, 1kHz, at maximum SPL. Noise: -79 dB, 1kHz, 1Pa, Mid and Side. Dimensions: 193mm long, 53.4mm maximum body diameter. Weight: 517g.

Included accessories: Cable; 5.0 metre, stereo cable with 5-pin XLR-F connector at microphone terminated with 2x 3-pin XLR-M. AT8449 elastic suspension shock mount for 5/8 inch thread, 5/8 inch to 3/8 inch threaded adapter, microphone dust cover, protective carrying case.
