LYNX YELLOBRIK CHD 1812 VIDEO CONVERTER HDMI to 3G/HD/SD-SDI, frame synchroniser, analogue embedder

LYNX YELLOBRIK VIDEO CONVERTERS - HDMI/SDI

These modules convert HDMI video to and from SDI video signal formats up to 3Gbit/s, providing a means to use consumer hardware, such as camcorders and TV screens, in a professional, digital, environment with no image compression. They all offer fibre input/output capabilities by means of optional SFP fibre modules. HDMI to SDI converters are available with or without frame synchroniser and analogue audio embedding. An SDI to HDMI conversion module offers, in addition, audio de-embedding and on-screen monitoring of data embedded in the SDI signal. The range includes designs for use with either unbalanced AES digital or balanced analogue audio. Modules may be used alone, or mounted in an optional rack-mounting frame.

Note: For legal reasons, HDMI capture devices from LYNX Technik AG are designed not to capture, convert or transmit video or audio from HDCP copy-protected sources such as satellite receivers, cable receivers etc.

Standard accessories: All yellobrik modules are supplied with a plug-top power supply, complete with UK, US, Australian and European plug fittings, and hook and loop pads for easy attachment to a suitable surface.

Optional accessories: Fibre transmitter, receiver or transceiver SFP modules may be plugged into the cage on the side of the modules, see below. Power adapter cables for 12V working, alternative power supplies and a rack-mounting frame for up to 14 yellobrik modules are available. Please see Lynx Yellobrik Power supplies And Mounting Accessories.

CHD 1802 - HDMI to SDI converter

This converts an HDMI input into an SDI output. SDI 3G level A or B is user selectable and 3D is also supported. Audio present in the HDMI stream will be embedded into the corresponding channels on the SDI output. Applications might include using the HDMI output from an inexpensive camcorder in a digital environment using no image compression. There are BNC connectors for two SDI outputs. A type A connector provides the HDMI input. LEDs indicate HDMI video and power are present.

CHD 1812 - HDMI to SDI converter with Frame Synchroniser and Audio Embedder

This provides a fully-synchronized SDI output including 3G level A or B, from an external asynchronous HDMI source. 3D is supported. The reference sync input will accept any analogue video sync format including SD bi-level sync, black burst, colour bars and tri-level HD sync. The sync input is auto-detecting and fully cross-lock compatible. For example, an SD black burst reference can be used to frequency lock an HD HDMI input. If no reference is present, the converter performs a standard asynchronous HDMI to SDI conversion. External audio and HDMI inputs are frequency-locked to the external reference.

A stereo pair of analogue inputs can be embedded into any AES channel. A rotary switch selects the audio channels; a second rotary switch selects the full-scale level for the balanced audio outputs, which may also be used unbalanced. Audio present in the HDMI stream will be embedded into the SDI outputs, or can be replaced with the external audio inputs, which over-write the channel. Reference input: SDTV, analogue 525 or 625 bi-level sync, black burst or colour bars; HDTV, all tri-level sync standards (exceptions 1080p 50/59.94/60Hz); SMPTE 274M, SMPTE 296M, 75 ohms, BNC.

Included accessories: An HDMI cable and a pair of 6.35mm jack to RCA (phono) adapters are provided in addition to the standard inclusions.
Optional accessories: Fibre transmitter SFP module, to provide an SDI output over fibre.

CDH 1411 - 12G SDI to HDMI converter

CDH 1411 is a compact 12G SDI to HDMI converter designed for applications in broadcast, post-production and pro AV markets. It enables the user to convert any SDI video signal into a HDMI signal for monitoring and display. Fibre connectivity options add SDI fibre transmission and/or SDI fibre reception using the integrated fibre SFP socket.

Two channels of audio can be de-embedded providing digital AES and analog audio outputs. Analog audio outputs have selectable full-scale range presets whilst the two selected audio channels can also be embedded into the HDMI output. Alternatively, eight channels selected from the input signal (8 audio groups in 64 channels) can be embedded into the HDMI output. Other features of CDH 1411 include individually selectable timecode burn-in, closed-caption burn-in, 16-channel audio metering, safe area markers, and metadata display.

CDH 1411 is compatible with Yellobrik yelloGUI software, which provides support for additional settings and features via PC and the USB port on the module.

CDH 1813 - 3G SDI to HDMI converter

For audio/video monitoring and display applications, this converts any SDI video signal (including 3G level A or B) into a standard HDMI signal. Input standard and format are detected automatically. The HDMI output displays the native input resolution. The module has 3D support and is suitable for monitoring single-link 3D SDI streams on a 3D HDMI monitor. This supports side by side, top and bottom, as well as frame-packing 3D HDMI display modes. Safe Area Markers have also been added.

Two channels of audio can be de-embedded from the incoming video signal to give balanced analogue and AES digital outputs; audio channels and full-scale level are selected by rotary switch. The balanced output may be used unbalanced. The two selected audio channels can be embedded into the HDMI output. Alternatively, eight channels may be selected from the input signal, either channels 1-8 or channels 9-16. The module can overlay data from the incoming video signal on the HDMI output. There are windows for time-code, four groups of four embedded audio channels, key metadata information as well as AFD code. There are BNC connectors for SDI in and out, AES audio out. Two 3-pole 6.35mm jacks provide analogue audio out. A type A connector provides the HDMI output. LEDs indicate video, audio and power are present. An optional fibre interface allows the module to be used for monitoring fibre connections and also function as a SDI to fibre converter. When a fibre transceiver option is fitted the module may be used with either an electrical SDI input or a fibre input signal, selected by a DIP switch. The module will provide both a fibre and electrical SDI output of the selected input signal as well as the HDMI output.

yelloGUI Software Application for Yellobriks

Key settings for yellobriks can be configured via the rotary switches and dip switches on the front panel, with status shown on front panel indicators. The yelloGUI software application provides extended and enhanced access to internal settings and controls, many of which are not accessible from the unit's controls and switches. Selected yellobriks may be controlled and configured over USB using a PC. A virtual image of the module is displayed showing the user an enhanced range of all switches, controls and module indicators. Status information such as the detected video format, HDMI output resolution and frequency, as well audio signals are also shown. The internal signal-flow is graphically displayed and changes dynamically when a setting is changed. yelloGUI can be downloaded from http://www.lynx-technik.com/en/support/download-area/yellogui-software/ . All modules listed here are compatible.
