This AES/EBU impedance converter, with a BNC female connector and wire termination points, is mounted on an insulated plate suitable for mounting in a Neutrik 'D' series cut out. A high quality, high-frequency, miniature transformer is mounted on a PCB, for matching balanced 110 ohm to unbalanced 75 ohm coaxial, digital audio circuits. The circuit is symmetrical so may be used either to convert signals from balanced to unbalanced format, or unbalanced to balanced.
There are three wire termination holes at the rear of the PCB for soldering a suitable 110 ohm twisted pair cable. The holes are marked 1, 2 and 3 which correspond to the pin numbers on an XLR male or female connector: 1 = screen/earth, 2 = red/hot/+, 3 = black/cold/-. Depth from front of flange (from rear of the panel in which it mounts) to rear of board: 40mm.
The unit may be used as in interface between external cabling and other circuitry within a case, or be mounted in a Canford Universal connection panel and be simply looped through to an XLR male or female panel mount connector mounted close by.
