Cable connectors with nickel plated shell and silver plated contacts. These use the same shell, strain-relief etc as the X-series, with insulation displacement connections (pins 2, 3) for field assembly with only a knife. A unique clamp secures twisted screen (pin 1). IDC contacts for 0.14mm² -0.22mm² cables, rated 3 amps. The cable is prepared by stripping back the outer jacket, and twisting the shield to form a single cable. The two signal wires are inserted into the IDC contacts and the twisted shield under the shield contact. Pushing the chuck over the assembly forces the IDC jaws to cut into the signal wire insulation and clamps the screen. The bushing is then tightened as usual. Note that there are two positions for the chuck: one of them allows the shield to connect to the shell for grounding purposes. Warning – this could cause ground loops in certain circumstances.
Glands with polyurethane strain reliefs are available - see NEUTRIK XLR CABLE CONNECTOR GLANDS - X series. Colour coding rings are also available - see NEUTRIK XLR CABLE CONNECTOR RINGS - X series.
