LYNX YELLOBRIK FIBRE OPTIC EXTENDERS - Ethernet, Serial and GPI - 10km

These modules, part of the yellobrik range manufactured by Lynx Technik, extend electrical communications circuits over distances of up to 10km using fibre optic cables. The range includes models supporting up to gigabit Ethernet or alternatively serial RS422, 432, 485 protocols combined with dual bi-directional GPI signaling. This can be accomplished, depending on model, using either a duplex fibre link or a single, multiplexed, fibre link. Modules may be used alone, or mounted in an optional rack-mounting frame.

Common Specifications

ODT 1510 and ODT 1510 MM - Serial and GPI - 2x fibres

OET 1514 and OET 1514 MM - Ethernet - 2x fibres

OBD 1510 D - Serial and GPI - 1x WDM fibre

OBD 1514 E - Ethernet - 1x WDM fibre

OBD 1514 E consists of a matched pair of compact Ethernet switches designed to extend the reach of electrical Ethernet signals over long distances up to 10Km. The two switches are linked via a single bi-directional fibre link which operates at a constant 1Gbit speed. The modules use WDM fibre technology, see technical note below, in a closed-loop arrangement and function as an Ethernet extender.

Each module has two standard RJ45 electrical Ethernet ports and the complete system functions as a four-port Ethernet switch, providing two standard RJ45 Ethernet ports at each location, linked with fibre. Each electrical Ethernet port can be set for automatic speed detection, 10, 100, 1000Mbits/s or forced to 10Mbits/s. Each port uses auto crossover-detection or can be forced manually if needed. These functions are available using a DIP switch. LEDs indicate port speed and activity for the electrical ports and TX, RX active for the fibre port.

Fibre connections: 1x fibre optic port (bi-directional), singlemode, LC/PC connection. WDM using 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths.
Optical budget: 18dB
Technical note: WDM

WDM is wavelength-division multiplexing. This technology multiplexes a number of optical carrier signals onto a single fibre by using different wavelengths of light. This can be used to increase the capacity of the fibre or to enable bi-directional communication over a single fibre.
