NOMAD is the latest mobile phone hybrid from Glensound building on the success of the classic GS-MPI004(HD). NOMAD allows greater worldwide compatibility and full HD voice over LTE for territories that no longer have 3G services. NOMAD has a range of features including 4G VO-LTE, 3G UMTS, and 2G GSM compatibility, mic/48V/line inputs with adjustable gain, configurable on/off button on the input, 6.35mm headphone output, OLED screen, diversity aerials, auto answer, selectable background noise suppressor, and NANO SIM card. The OLED screen allows simple configuration and monitoring of call functions such as signal strength and caller ID, and the input now has a configurable on/off or cough button.
Using the same network provider, where HD Voice is available, on either end of the call allows 7kHz audio links to be made for perfect speech performance. Glensound HD Voice is an automatic feature available around the world on compatible mobile networks using 4G VoLTE or 3G UMTS. Connecting two Glensound HD Voice broadcaster’s mobile phones in the same country, across a compatible 4G VoLTE or 3G UMTS network, will give a clear 7kHz of audio bandwidth. HD Voice is an adaptive multi-rate wide band (AMR-WB), also known as G.722.2. This is the algorithm more commonly known as HD Voice. It offers significant advantages for broadcasters including doubling voice bandwidth over 2G GSM to 50-7000Hz or 2G narrow band speech codec at 300-3400Hz, 12.65kbit/s or higher coding bit-rates provide high quality wideband audio, and a better lower frequency response, down to 50Hz, gives for a more natural sounding voices. Glensound HD Voice does not require the data network on 3G UMTS.
Calls can be locked to 2G, 3G or 4G only, with any calls made on HD Voice automatically dropping down to 2G when moving outside a signal area without disconnecting the call. NOMAD also operates as a standard 2G mobile phone, and with advances in performance and noise reduction capabilities found on the NOMAD, improvements in call quality can still be heard. The line output of NOMAD can bet set for a true balancing unit with just the isolated remote end audio, or it can be mixed with the input for a complete programme feed.
Powering options include 6 x AA batteries for 5 1/2 hours connected run time, standard DC input, or a USB-C power input.
Glensound Lodge is a 19-inch rackmount version of the NOMAD mobile phone hybrid. It offers greater worldwide compatibility than older models, along with full HD voice over LTE for territories that no longer have 3G services. Lodge is available in three versions, each with a different number of phone modules:
Lodge Module is an option that allows the user to add additional phone modules to Lodge 1 or Lodge 2.
The feature set is the same as NOMAD, with the exception of 19-inch rackmount form and number of phone modules.

Glensound’s GS-MPI005 and GS-MPI005HD mobile phone racks have been popular with broadcasters and can be found in daily use in outside broadcast trucks and studios around the World. GS-MPI005HD MKII is an upgraded version of that popular model. It is a mains powered, 1U rackmount unit that can be fitted with up to two mobile phones featuring professional audio interfaces for connecting broadcast audio equipment to cell phone networks.
Two versions are available, one with single mobile phone, and one with two:
GS-MPI005HD MKII looks different to its predecessor as it has touch screen colour displays for each phone module fitted. A GS-MPI005HD MKII TH traditional telephone handset is an optional interface that allows an operator to communicate off air before handing the call over to broadcast. The handset interface can also dial and answer calls. The audio to and from the handset is separate from the audio to and from the broadcast outputs and an operator can make or answer a call using the handset and then transfer (divert) this call to the broadcast circuits. If a call is currently being routed to the broadcast circuits then it can be transferred to the handset.
As many broadcasters have already adopted Dante (and some AES67) as their network audio infrastructure of choice Glensound designed the GS-MPI005HD MKII to allow an optional GS-MPI005HD MKII NC Dante/AES67 module to be fitted to allow full AoIP connectivity of both the broadcast and off air ‘handset’ audio circuits. Each phone has five loops for connection to external equipment. These can be set as either inputs or outputs. The inputs can be used for things such as answering/ending an incoming call, turning the sounder off, diverting the call between broadcast and handset, and setting the outputs to indicate an incoming call or to show when a call is in progress.
GS-MPI005HD MKII is fitted with twin diversity antennas which provide improved signal reception and range when operating on 4G LTE networks.

The front panel touchscreen display is provided for each mobile phone fitted. Each touchscreen allows the operator to make and receive calls and transfer the call between the broadcast circuits and telephone handset. A detailed setup menu is also accessible via the touchscreen.
