COAX CONNECTORS MICRO BNC - Male, cable - Crimp - 12G, 4K UHD, 75 ohm

These Micro BNCs are bayonet-coupling, 75 ohm types, 51% smaller than standard BNC connectors and are intermatable with similarly sized (yet differently named - see Ordering Note for further details) High Density types by other manufacturers. They allow four times the packing-density of conventional BNCs and are found on the rear of equipment with multiple connections including routers, distribution amplifiers, format converters and many units utilising SFP modules. Harris, Evertz, Miranda and many other leading manufacturers fit mini BNC, micro BNC or HD BNC sockets either as standard or as an option to their routers and high density equipment.

Micro BNCs offer a conventional mating action and higher performance than the equivalently sized DIN 1.0/2.3 push-pull connector and remain mated even when subject to the high levels of vibration experienced by OB, Fly Pack and touring equipment in transit. The performance exceeds the requirements of SMPTE ST 2082-1 making them suitable for composite and component video, 270 Mb/s SDI, uncompressed 1080i or 1080p HD-SDI video and 4K UHD (2160P60) video up to 12GHz.

Centre and outer mating contacts are gold-plated, the body is nickel-plated. They are offered packed singly, or in bulk packs of 100, supplied in plastic compartment trays. The centre contact is crimped with a conventional 'plier' type, square cavity, crimp tool and the outer braid is secured with a hexagonally crimped sleeve. See COAX CONNECTORS CRIMP TOOLS.

The Micro BNC series is used to achieve a very high density of connections on equipment rear panels and thus requires the use of the dedicated slim-line fitting and removal tool to mate and un-mate the connector. Splines on the tool locate in slots machined into locking barrel (nut) providing not only a method for turning the barrel to mate or un-mate it, but a useful long-handled positioner tool to engage the connector on to the rear of equipment in very confined spaces. See COAX CONNECTORS INSERTION AND EXTRACTION TOOLS.
