LYNX YELLOBRIK FIBRE OPTIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM - 4K 12G, 4x 3G HD-SDI

OTR-1441 and OTR-1442 are self-contained, single-fibre, transmission systems for the transport of 4K (12G uncompressed) video, split over four separate 3G HD-SDI links, with resolutions up to full 3840x2160 and 4096x2160, 50/59.94/60 Hz. The four SDI channels in the OTR yellobriks are however fully independent and will automatically detect and re-clock SDI bit-rates of 270Mbit, 1.48Gbit and 2.97Gbit, so as an alternative to a single 4K SDI signal they may be used for any combination of up to four SDI signals, possibly with different formats, bit-rates and embedded audio and data. The system offers a transmission range of up to 20km (12miles) with negligible delay and loss.

Each kit comprises a fibre transmitter (OTX -144X), a fibre receiver (ORX-144X) and two universal plug-top power supplies. SDI input and output is via BNC female connectors, fibre connections are LC. LED indicators are provided for SDI channel-presence and power. The units are housed in the familiar rugged yellobrik casing, with all instructions printed on the outside of each module.

The modules can be used standalone or mounted in the optional RFR 1018 0.5U passive rack frame, which can accommodate combinations of up to four transmitters or receivers as well as OCM 4-channel or 9-channel optical MUX/DEMUX modules, providing a secure mounting platform in any standard 19 inch rack.

CWDM and additional channels

CWDM optical multiplexing is used within the OTR-1441 and OTR-1442 modules to combine the four SDI channels, employing wavelengths identical to the groups used by Lynx Technik 4-channel multiplexer/demultiplexer models OCM-1841 (1270, 1290, 1310 and 1330nm) or OCM-1842 (1350, 1370, 1390 and 1410nm) respectively. As with the OCM mux/demux modules, an expansion port is included on each module that can be used to add additional SDI or other signal channels at any other CWDM wavelength or multiplexed combination of wavelengths not used by the module's four main SDI inputs/outputs. This includes 'daisy-chaining' an OTR-1441 and an OTR-1442 system to transport two 4K signals over a single, trunk, fibre. The OTR CWDM fibre input/outputs may also be multiplexed with other CWDM signals with the Lynx Technik OCM CWDM fibre multiplexer/demultiplexer modules.

4K plus control serial or Ethernet data transport

A special expanded application is possible by using the OTR-1442 to combine the transport of 4K video plus control data, either serial or Ethernet, for a remote camera/camera head or projector. The data signal may be converted by adding the cost-effective Lynx Technik bi-directional WDM fibre transceiver modules OBD-1510D (serial and GPI) or OBD-1510E (Ethernet). These operate at 1310 and 1550nm WDM on a single fibre, These may then be multiplexed on the trunk fibre by connecting them to the UPG expansion ports of the OTX-1442 and ORX 1442 modules. The output of this combination cannot be multiplexed with additional signals.

Note: Due to the typically large tolerance of WDM wavelengths it is not usually possible to mux the signals. However by using the Lynx bi-directional WDM modules this extraordinary usage of the UPG expansion port to combine CWDM with WDM technology is possible. This configuration cannot be guaranteed if other manufacturers WDM components are used.

The OTR-1441 CANNOT be used with Lynx OBD units as the 1310nm wavelength is used by one of the SDI channels.

Included accessories: yellobrik OTR kits are supplied with two plug-top power supplies with UK, US, Australian and European plug fittings.
Optional accessories: Power adapter cables for 12V working, alternative power supplies and a passive rack-mounting frame for up to 4 OTR yellobrik modules or multiplex units are available. Please see Lynx Yellobrik Power Supplies And Mounting Accessories.
