GLENSOUND HEADPHONE AMPLIFIERS

A range of headphone amplifiers with and without Dante audio input, from Glensound. Designed for use in studio or broadcast, this range includes headphone amplifiers can be portable, desk or permanently wall mounted.

VIRGIL Series - Dante

Ordering note: The standard versions of Virgil headphone amplifiers listed below feature a front panel pot range of -20 to +10dB. The same units can be ordered as a special order with a pot range of -70 to +10dB. Please contact our Sales team for more information.

Virgil - Install

Powered over PoE, Glensound Virgil studio headphone amplifier with Dante audio inputs is designed for permanent install into studio, production room, or stadium commentary box. Two audio channels can be received from a Dante network with one sent to the left and the other to the right channel of the headphone amplifier. A volume pot on the front facing panel allows the user to determine the audio level send to the headphones. As the volume pot allows adjustment from -20 to +10dB it’s worth noting the audio signals will never be turned completely off. Instead they can always be heard, at worst at low volume, so that important announcements aren’t missed. If the user wishes to have the volume turned off, a hardware soldering job can be done on the internal PCB. Otherwise a -70 to +10dB version can be purchased as a special order item.

The rear facing panel houses RJ45 network connection for Dante audio and PoE, and a dual purpose 5V USB socket that can be used to power the Virgil from a compatible USB power adapter, or upload new firmware if required.

The front facing panel of the headphone amplifier features the rotary volume controller, 6.35mm and 3.5mm headphone jack outputs, and ‘bright’ blue LED signifying power.

Glensound HA1+ has two 3-pin XLR inputs that are used as the primary programme audio input. This can be stereo, or, if mono, can be switched to appear on both sides of the headphone outputs. There are left and right programme input gain controls on the front panel, and they are on recessed screw terminals to prevent accidental tamper. There is also a secondary, mono cue input with a connection via one of 3-pin XLR sockets on the rear panel. HA1+ uses Glensound’s proprietary CAN headphone system to allow multi-impedance headphones to be used, between 32-1000 Ohm, with the same perceptual level in the headphones when the volume control is kept in a fixed position. Stereo or mono connections can also be made to the headphone sockets, including mono earpieces. The headphone output is available via a front panel 6.35mm headphone socket, and in parallel on a rear panel 3-pin XLR connection.

A remote connection available via an RJ45 or a 9-pin D-type connection to allow the user to remotely adjust level control, the disabling of front panel control, and further left/right signal outputs. Rear panel inputs and outputs are electronically balanced on 3-pin XLR connections, however unbalanced connections are also accommodated. Power is provided by an internal switch mode power supply, with a wide input range. There is also an input for external 12V DC power.
