SONIFEX HEADPHONE AMPLIFIERS

Sonifex headphone amplifiers have been designed for those requiring control over headphone volume with analogue or digital audio source.

AVN-AH8 - Dante to headphone, 8-channel

Sonifex AVN-AH8 is a multi-channel headphone amplifier that has been manufactured in a 1U rack-mount chassis. Designed for applications including the provision of common headphone feeds for guests in a radio studio coming directly from the AoIP network, the amplifier distributes two sets of stereo audio to up to 8 different sets of headphones. The headphone amplifier is fed from a local Dante AoIP network.

Located on the front facing panel, and for each output, there is an unbalanced 6.35mm and 3.5mm jack socket along with a rotary level control. Potentiometers, also located on the front facing panel, adjust the headphone volumes from mute to 0dB of gain. The rear facing panel hosts eight parallel 6.35mm jacks for ease of wiring when the unit is installed in an enclosed rack.

Each of the eight 'professional-quality' headphone outputs can select between one of two stereo Dante sources which are routed via Dante controller and connected by way of RJ45 connection.. The level of each stereo Dante stream can be adjusted +/-12dB using one of the two front panel rotary controls. AVN-AH8 supports AES67 operation and is Dante Domain Manager compliant.

Other features include a power (PoE) LED, a DC LED, a network link status LED, a clock LED, and a recessed reset switch; all positioned on the front facing panel. The unit is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a 12VDC input via a locking 2.5mm DC Input, 2A minimum rating.

Dante channels: 4. Dante streams: 2. Sample rates: 44../48/88.2/96kHz. Encoding format: Linear PCM, 16/24/32-bit. PoE power usage: 6W, typical; 15.4W, maximum. Master level adjustment: +/-12dB. Output impedance: 150mW into 32-600ohms. Maximum output level: +18dBu. Crosstalk: Less than -95dB at 1kHz. Dimensions (WxDxH): 480 x 110 x 43mm. Weight: 1.4kg.

AVN-DIO3 - Dante to headphone

DIO03 is a Dante AoIP network to headphone output convertor. The Dante input, by way of Neutrik Ethercon connector is joined by headphone outputs of unbalanced 6.3mm and unbalanced 3.5mm jack. A potentiometer positioned on the front facing panel allows headphone volume output from muted up to +6dB. An inbuilt limiter, designed to prevent hearing damage, can be adjusted using a trimmer adjustment tool or flat bladed screwdriver. A blue LED illuminates to illustrate limiting in progress. The limiter can be set from -12dBu to 0dBu. The analogue to digital and digital to analogue circuitry offers 120dB of dynamic range. Sample rate compatibility includes 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, and 96kHz, with PCM16/24/32 encoding.

Output impedance: Capable of driving 150mW into 32ohm to 600ohm headphones. Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz, +0/-0.5dB. Dynamic range: 114dB, 20kHz. Crosstalk: Less than 100dB. Dimensions (WxDxH): 106 x 73 x 43mm. Weight: 0.2kg

CM-HPR1 - Passive volume control, RJ45 input

Sonifex CM-HPR1 is a compact unit that allows the connection of a balanced analogue stereo line input via RJ45 with 'StudioHub+' pin-out. The RJ45 connection is located on the rear facing panel of the HPR1. The front facing panel has a rotary volume control and 6.35mm headphone jack socket for use with headphones with an impedance above 150ohms. An internal transformer with a ratio of 2:1 ensures that any headphone load presented at the output is reflected through to the input at a 1:4 ratio. The headphone level will be at half the level of the incoming signal with the volume control at 100%.

Maximum input level: +28dBu. Maximum output level: +22dBu. Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz, +0/-0.5dB. Noise: Better than -115dBu, A-weighted. Distortion: Less than 0.01%, reference +8dBu output. Dimensions (WxDxH): 77 x 83 x 42mm. Weight: 0.22kg

Optional accessories: CM-MNT1 Desk mount panel

CM-HPX1 - Passive volume control, 3-pin XLR input

This has the same specification and feature set as the CM-HPR1, however the stereo analogue inputs are on balanced 3-pin XLR as opposed to RJ45 connector.

Optional accessories: CM-MNT1 Desk-mount panel
