CANFORD ETHERCON TERMINATION AND FEEDTHROUGH PANELS - CAT5E, CAT6 and CAT6A

A range of 1U data termination and patching panels supplied fully-populated with Neutrik latching metal-shell Ethercon connectors. The Ethercon was designed for data transfer interconnections where a more robust connector than the basic RJ45 is required and are especially suitable for location and outdoor applications, stage, studio and other commercial and industrial environments. Also suitable for RS422 applications. The Ethercon connector utilises the robust Neutrik latch rather than the delicate plastic latch on the RJ45 (which is disabled in the Ethercon application) and are IP67 rated when mated.

CAT5E versions are available either as feedthrough types with an RJ45 socket at the rear, or with individual Krone IDC blocks, integrated on the rear of each connector for direct termination of either UTP or STP data cables. In the case of STP cable screen continuity is provided by side screens within the RJ45 socket which extend to the rear and contact securely with and over the cable screen. A Krone inserter tool is required to terminate the cable. See COMMSCOPE (KRONE) LSA-PLUS CONNECTION SYSTEM - Accessories.

It is recommended that front-panel patching and connection to remote equipment is completed with a flexible, rugged Cat 5E cable; see Cat5E-F cable for full cable specification; Neutrik NE8MC plugs with RJ45 8-pin inserts will also be required. See Ethercon connectors. Cables and connectors are offered separately for customer installation, or ready-terminated in various lengths and colours. See Ethercon patchcords. Ethercon Cat5E comply with IEC1801 Category 5, shielded or unshielded, and are suitable for use with 10 Base-T and 100 Base-TX systems. As standard, they do not have an IP rating, however sealing to IP54 can be achieved by retrofitting the SE8FD sealing kit (stock code 46-530).

CAT6 versions, suitable for data rates up to 10GBits/s are available only with a tool-free and gas-tight IDC termination at the rear. They have a ground lead jumper with selectable grounding option. The cable is clamped, pairs are separated and trimmed, then laid into slots. Closing a cover completes the IDC termination without punchdown tools. The mating NE8MC-6S cable connectors are not available for user termination, but are supplied pre-assembled as screened patchcords - see Neutrik Ethercon Cat6 Screened Patchcords. As standard, Ethercon Cat6 connector mated pairs are sealed to IP65.

CAT6A versions are available either as feedthrough types with an RJ45 socket at the rear, or with IDC termination, where a T568A or T568B wire management block snaps into a metal ground sheet, pairs are separated and inserted into slots. Braided shielding or drain wire should be folded back and wrapped around the cable jacket. The cable is clamped to the ground sheet for strain relief, while ensuring the braided shielding or ground wire is covered by the cable tie. Wires are trimmed, and the wire management block pressed into the main panel housing using a HX-CAT6A parallel press tool (stock code: 55-684) or pliers to complete the termination.

These connectors are, fully CAT6A and PoE+ 802.3at type 2 compliant; capable of data transfer rates up to 10GBits/s; and fully shielded with high noise and EMI immunity. Cables and connectors are offered separately for customer installation, see Ethercon connectors, cable type or ready-terminated in various lengths, see CANFORD ETHERCON CAT6A SCREENED CABLES - Using Cat7-F deployable cable, see CANFORD ETHERCON CAT6A SCREENED CABLES - Using Cat7-F-HD deployable cable. CAT6A Ethercon comply with IEC11801 and TIA/EIA 568-C.2, PoE+ to 802.3at type 2.

Ordering Note: Ethercon CAT6A are NOT intermatable with the Ethercon CAT6 series.

Panels are manufactured from a lightweight but extremely rigid, broadcast style, aluminium extrusion with either 8 or 16 connectors equally spaced across the panel, providing maximum area for labelling. A cranked lacing-bar is fitted, allowing easy access to the rear sockets and a designation-strip holder with snap-on cover is fitted above the connector row to permit the supplied paper strips to be inserted before or after installation; 7.5mm of printable height is available. Templates for printing designation strip labels, available as a DWG file for AutoCAD and compatible applications, can be downloaded from the appropriate product page on the Canford website. Spare 432mm designation-strip paper (not suitable for printers) and covers are available, see CANFORD DESIGNATION STRIPS - Snap-on.

Available finished in Dawn Grey (BS4800-10A03) or Black.
