AMPETRONIC FSM FIELD STRENGTH METER For induction loops

AMPETRONIC LOOP FIELD STRENGTH METER

FSM - IEC60118-4

A compact, ergonomically designed, hand-held instrument for measuring the performance of virtually any induction loop system, for use in regular monitoring or for initial set-up. The meter has a headphone output and measures background noise, field strength and frequency response, providing a simple means of checking adherence to the IEC60118-4:2006 standard.

The first mode of operation determines the level of background magnetic flux present in the loop system location, with a weighted filter, on a scale between -12dB and -42dB; this mode can also be used to assess overspill outside the system. The second mode uses a broad-band measurement of 50Hz to 8kHz to assess system field strength on a scale from -22 to +8dB and is suitable for use with a system input from a test signal CD, or with any other real signals. Finally, the third mode of operation employs third octave filters at 100Hz, 1kHz and 5kHz for measuring frequency response in the range stipulated by IEC60118-4 and can be used to confirm the adequacy of power at high frequencies and to assess frequency-dependent loss due to metal structures; for use with pink noise signal only.

The meter has an LED display with a wide viewing angle as well as colour-coded LEDs for efficient operation in a multitude of environments. Measurement is RMS and referenced to 400mA/m with resolution to 1dB. The headphone outlet is a 3.5mm jack socket with a minimum headphone impedance of 32ohms per channel. Power source: two AA alkaline batteries. Dimensions: 84 x 140 x 27 (h x w x d) mm. Weight: 150g, excluding batteries.

Included accessories: case, manual, template for commissioning certificate, 'Designing Induction Loops' handbook, two AA alkaline batteries.
