A range of cased racks to protect standard nineteen-inch Broadcast, IT and telecommunications equipment against climatic extremes and rough handling in field conditions. The equipment is mounted in internal frames, suspended on elastomeric anti-vibration mounts inside water-proof rotomoulded cases, to give a shock-mounted environment impervious to water, sand and dust.
The outer cases, with removable front and rear lids, are similar to other Amazon cases, see Amazon rotomoulded Transit Cases. Rotomoulding is a stress-free process using high quality polymer that thickens at the edges and corners for extra strength and impact resistance. Amazon ruggedised racks give all the advantages of rotomoulding but without the normal wasteful thick wall cavity, restrictive narrow openings and bulky deep lids. They are stable in temperatures from -40 to +70°C and resistant to solvents and acids.
Moulded location features ensure that positive stacking is easily achieved, even when the optional wheels are fitted, aligning at the front face regardless of rack depth. Moulded-in lips in the lids engage with the body of the case to eliminate sideways lid displacement and simplify fitting of the lids; gentle pressure from one hand will hold the lids in place while the catches are fastened. Heavy duty plastic injection-moulded sprung handles are inset into the sides. These each have an SWL of 100kg. Label indents for contents identification are positioned on each side, and the rack body is marked with 'Front' and 'Rear' to avoid the otherwise unavoidable irritation of opening the wrong lid! All fittings are stainless steel. A single valve, which has 'excellent air permeability', is positioned below the carry handle of Amazon cases as standard. The valve features a 0.10mm thick TEMISH Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) porous membrane and polyester net which is water resistant, dust resistant and offers thermal resistance.
The stainless steel inner frame is adjustable, allowing front to back movement of 25mm to create extra space at the front or rear of the rack; the case is dimensioned to give superior 'sway-space' between inner frame and outer container to prevent contact under severe drop/shock. Cases are available with frames in two DIN standard depths, 480mm and 610mm. Front and rear rack mounting angles take cage nuts; the front is pierced to BS5954 and DIN41494, while the rear adopts the American standard. Lids are either 70mm, or 125mm external depth to allow extra room for controls and or cable storage pouches and fitting the optional wheels, see optional accessories.
Included accessories: Stainless steel cage nuts, screws and plastic washers.
Optional accessories: Racks have provision for fitting two optional 70mm 'roller blade' recessed wheels. These robust wheels are fitted into the lower edge of the 125mm rear rack lids (not 70mm lids) and are designed to come into operation immediately the rack is tilted from the horizontal, but do not interfere with stacking or stowage. The wheel kit contains two wheel assemblies and two extra handles to mount in the lid opposite the wheels.
Amazon racks are virtually airtight as standard. Valves can be fitted to allow equalisation of air pressure between the container and the external atmosphere whilst preventing the ingress of water and dust, although some humidity will be admitted. The 15-6962 pressure relief valves allow gradual equalisation of pressure, and have a manual release button to equalise the pressure when opening the case. The humidity indicator shows relative humidity within the case. These three accessories will normally be fitted at the factory, but can be retrofitted in the field, requiring the use of tools to drill apertures in the case. Cable storage pouches snap securely into place in either lid of the rack, made from Cordura, with heavy-duty zip. The pouches are designed to fit the available space in the lid, except that the 12U pouch is supplied as a pair of 6U pouches.
Support rails or brackets may be fitted to provide support along the depth of the equipment. They fasten to the frame in vertical increments of 1U.
The 'Easy Glide' accessory fits between the shock mounts and the internal frame; the frame can then be removed for equipment installation or maintenance, allowing free access to all faces of the equipment and then slid back into the case and secured with just four M8 bolts accessed from the front; the rear of the frame self-locates in position.
