TECPRO WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - Series 2

Designed for use in theatre, conference, live performance and broadcast applications, this digital system provides full-duplex speech communication to a group of up to six users, using EU licence-exempt frequencies, in an encrypted conference. Members of the group can talk to and listen to all the other members simultaneously, using wireless beltpacks. In addition an unlimited number of listen-only wireless beltpacks can be added to the system, for personnel who need only to monitor conversations.

The system operates on a primary UHF frequency of 869.525 MHz, at a power of 200mW maximum, giving an approximate coverage of 300-400m depending on the environment. A further two EU licence exempt frequencies, are user selectable on 863.500 MHz and 864.500 MHz operating at a power of 10mW, giving an approximate coverage of 80-100m depending on the environment.

Harmonised standards: EN300-220, radio; EN301-489, EMC. Modulation: GFSK. Data rate: 115 kbits/sec 'air-rate'. RF power: 200mW ERP, maximum. Duty cycle: up to 10%.

TW401 Wireless Beltpack

Tough, lightweight, compact and ergonomic, the TW401 allows total freedom of movement without the need for restricting interconnecting cables. Hands-free operation allows the user to communicate while carrying out other tasks, such as operating consoles or pointing lamps.

On the front there is a blue LCD screen that displays status, battery level and other information including a visual display of those beltpacks within the group which are currently switched on. The display has an auto-dim feature that will dim the display after one minute, if there are no key presses, to conserve battery power. Five touch-sensitive function keys set operating parameters. A keylock function prevents inadvertent operation, the headphone volume setting may be adjusted to one of nine individual levels.

On the rear there is a belt-clip and a specially designed battery compartment that houses a high-capacity, long-life, re-chargeable battery, giving an operational life of up to 16 hours continuous use between charges. The flexible antenna is located on the top surface; the base has a Fischer 102 Series socket for connecting a dedicated headset.

Power source: Lithium polymer battery, 3.7V, 2600mAh. Protection: IP54. Dimensions: 60 x 22 x 120 (w x d x h)mm. Weight: 180g.

Included accessories: Rechargeable battery, data sheet. Note that headset and battery charger are not included.

Optional accessories: A headset is required; the TW406, TW407, SMH214 and DMH224 types are suitable, other Tecpro headsets are not compatible. A battery charger is also required; see the TW415 below. Spare or additional batteries are available.

TW403 Wireless Interface

The TW403 connects to a Tecpro wired intercom circuit, and acts as a bridge between the wired and wireless intercoms. While reducing the number of full-duplex beltpacks available to five, since the interface becomes one of the six nodes in the group, it extends full duplex communication between the wireless users to all the users available on the wired system.

By using more than one wireless interface and selecting different frequencies, up to three wireless communication groups can be created, for example riggers, floor manager and a lighting crew, each one requiring a separate wireless interface and Tecpro wired system circuit.

Constructed in an extruded aluminium housing, the interface has connectors for connection to the intercom circuit and for the included external TW413 whip antenna.

Included accessories: TW413 whip antenna, data sheet.
Optional accessories: The TW412 dipole antenna can offer increased range and performance. See below for details.

TW412, TW413 Antennae

Discontinued

Offering increased gain and therefore improved range, particularly when positioned remotely from the interface for optimum coverage, the TW412 is a dipole antenna tuned to 869.525 MHz, housed in a black plastic tube, with a captive 5m cable and SMA connector attached. It is supplied with a large, versatile sprung fixing-clamp that also incorporates a 5/8” female thread for attaching to microphone stands. A 5/8" to 3/8" thread adapter is also included.

The TW413 is a whip antenna with incorporated SMA connector on the end. This antenna has an adjustable knuckle that enables it to be orientated correctly. This is the same antenna that is provided with the TW403 Wireless Interface.

TW415 Battery Charger - 3 Way

Discontinued

This is a dedicated charger with slots for three batteries. It will charge up to three simultaneously. Status LEDs on the front panel give a visual indication of the charging process; 3.7V 2600mAh batteries are fully charged in about five hours. The charger is powered by an inline, universal, AC power adapter. Power source: 100-240V, 50-60Hz, 1.5A.

Included accessories: AC power adapter, power lead, data sheet.
Optional accessories: TW416 Spare 3-way charger base unit, TW417 Spare AC power adapter.

Note: Two 3-way charger base units can be connected together, via a unique magnetic locking system, to charge up to 6 batteries simultaneously. Only one power adapter is required. This unit replaces the former charger model TW405.

TW406, TW407 Lightweight Headsets

The TW 406 is a lightweight earpiece with an electret boom microphone, suitable for use with the TW401 beltback in applications where a discreet headset is required, and ambient noise is low to moderate. It is terminated with a Fischer 102 Series 7-pin plug, and is not suitable for use with other Tecpro beltpacks.
The TW407 is similar, but has an in-line on/off switch fitted to the cable for applications where the user needs to have conversations locally without being heard by the wireless-connected users.

SMH214, DMH224 Closed Ear Headsets

These are closed-cup types with electret boom microphones. Both are terminated with a Fischer 102 Series 7-pin plug. They are suitable for use with the TW401 beltpack in applications with moderate to high background noise and are not suitable for use with other Tecpro beltpacks. The SMH214 has a single earpiece, the DMH224 has two.

Note: The latest Series 2 versions are not backwards compatible with the previous Series 1 versions as a different coding system is used. Tecpro Wireless operates on licence free frequencies within the UK but may require an operator licence in other countries. Regional or National regulations must be considered and appropriate licences obtained by the end user before specifying or purchasing this system.
