CANFORD CAT7-F-HD CAT 7 DATA CABLE Stranded conductor, screened - Deployable, ruggedised, extra large conductors

Increasing use of network and data cables between audio and video devices on location calls for a Category 7 cable that is designed specifically for deployable use. Basic Category 7 cable is a relatively inflexible installation cable, and even the slightly more flexible patchcord type still has very poor handling characteristics in deployed (as opposed to patching) applications. This Category 7 S/FTP construction cable has been designed specifically for the professional audio and video user who needs longer cable runs, and is intended to handle like a typical (but large) microphone cable. It has an extra-flexible individually screened 4 pair core structure with larger conductors for lower loss (0.25 sq.mm, 23AWG), an overall braid screen that maintains Category 7 performance, then a rugged polyurethane outer jacket, to give good flexibility and handling characteristics.

It is not suitable for use with most standard RJ45 connectors due to the 9.3mm overall diameter. A suitable connector is the Neutrik Ethercon NE8MX6 (see application note below).

The Category 7 standard provides performance up to 1000MHz, and is suitable for Gigabit Ethernet, 1000Base-T and other high speed applications, as well as analogue and digital audio. Category 7 defines more stringent specifications than those applicable to Category 6/6A, particularly in crosstalk between pairs.

Technical Specification:
Conductors: 7/0.21mm (0.25 sq.mm AWG23) bare copper
Insulation: Foamed polyethylene, 1.6mm O.D., according to Category Cable Colour Codes
Lay-up: Two insulated conductors twisted together, pairs twisted together.
Pair screens: Aluminium laminated plastic foil
Overall screen: Tinned copper braid, 6.31mm O.D.
Overall jacket: Flexible polyurethane, 9.34mm O.D.
Impedance: 100 +/- 5 ohms
Minimum bending radius: 75mm
Attenuation: 5dB/100m (10MHz)
16dB/100m (100MHz))
26dB/100m (250MHz))
40dB/100m (600MHz)
52dB/100m (1000MHz)
Near end crosstalk: 100dB (10MHz)
100dB (100MHz)
90dB (250MHz)
85dB (600MHz)
83dB (1000MHz)
Weight: 7.4kg/100m
Reel length: 1000 metre reels
Cut lengths: Available in any multiple of 1 metre

Application note: Read the Neutrik NE8MX6 assembly instructions, which are available to download on the connector page. Use of a lubricant (for example Hellerman oil) is strongly recommended. This connector incorporates a sealing bush inside the gland, which can be removed for easier assembly.
