DPA MICROPHONES - Floor standing

DPA series of floor standing microphones, formally known as the d:sign series, have been designed to give ‘an elegant’ solution for applications including TV studios, OB vans, stage, theatre or concert hall audio capture. An integrated shock mount system within the floor base to reduce low frequency noise along with microphone stabilisation. Following from the popular ‘Legacy’ series of floor standing microphones, the CORE series of floor standing microphones have been primarily designed for the audio capture of a choir, whether in houses of worship, broadcast, or live performance.

4011 Floorstanding

DPA 4011 floorstanding microphone uses DPA’s MMC4011 pre-polarised cardioid condenser capsule and is available in lengths of 77cm and 122cm. There is also a 122cm option with twin microphone, often preferred for redundancy or additional sound options. This microphone has the ability to handle sound pressure levels up to 144dB before clipping make the microphone also suitable for miking piano, acoustic guitar, percussion, or wind instruments. A frequency range of 20Hz – 20kHz, 40Hz – 20kHz at +/-2dB at 30cm compliments the 10mV/Pa; -40dB at +/-2dB, 1kHz sensitivity to offer ‘superb separation’ and ‘smooth’ response. Has a dynamic range of 121dB typical. Requires +48V phantom power for full performance. All 4011 floor standing microphone options are terminated with 3-pin XLR.

4018 Floorstanding

Like the 4011 floorstanding microphone, the microphone comes in three varieties – single microphone with 77cm boom, single microphone with 122cm boom, and twin microphone with 122cm boom length. These supercardioid MMC4018 capsules have a ‘highly-directional’ pickup pattern designed for speech applications where background noise is required at a minimum. the microphone has a frequency range of 20Hz – 20kHz, 40Hz – 18kHz at +/-2dB at 30cm and a sensitivity of 12mV/Pa; -38.4dB at +/-2dB, 1kHz. Maximum SPL is 142dB before clipping with a dynamic range of 121dB typical. All 4018 floor standing microphone options are terminated with 3-pin XLR and require +48V phantom power for full performance.

4097 CORE Floorstanding

This ‘unobtrusive and versatile’ supercardioid microphone gives a ‘highly directional’ pickup pattern with a linear response and large dynamic range of 110dB typical to offer a natural sound from quiet to loud vocal performances. Off-axis pickup, when the audio is captured from the side of the microphone capsule, retains the audio quality however it lowers the input level captured. This is especially useful when an engineer needs to use fewer microphones as pointing at the back row of the choir balances the sound with the side pickup from the front rows of singers.

The complete setup can reach up to 253.3cm, and has three internal shock-mounts, one in the microphone capsule, one in the boom arm swivel joint, and at the base of the boom stand. This gives a quicker stabilisation time if the stand is accidentally knocked whilst also reducing the thumps caused when knocked.

The active boom pole is 122cm in length, with the cable running internally from back to front – when the CORE microphone capsule is positioned at a 90-degree angle. The termination of the cable, which reaches a holder bracket at the floor base, is by way of MicroDot connection so that engineers can use with an optional MicroDot connector for any given wireless transmitter. A DAD4099-BC MicroDot to 3-pin male XLR adaptor is included for those using with extension cable. Using the DAD4099-BC adaptor gives a second order low-cut filter at 80Hz.

Frequency response: 20Hz – 20kHz. Frequency range, +/- 2dB, 20cm: 80Hz – 15kHz, with 2dB soft boost at 10-12kHz. Sensitivity: 16mV/Pa, -36dB re 1V/Pa. Equivalent noise level: 23dB typical. S/N ratio: 71dB, A-weighted, 1kHz at 1Pa, 94dB SPL. Total harmonic distortion: less than 1%, up to 133dB peak. Dynamic range: 110dB, typical. Maximum SPL: 135dB, before clipping. Maximum total height: 253.3cm. Weight: 5.5kg, total weight; 4.1kg, floor base.

Included accessories: DAD4099-BC MicroDot to 3-pin male XLR adapter
Optional accessories: DAD6003, DAD6004, DAD6008, DAD6010, DAD6018, DAD6034 MicroDot adapters

4098 CORE Floorstanding

DPA 4098 CORE floorstanding microphone is offered in a single length of 122cm and has been designed to give a ‘very low noise’ but high sensitivity pickup. The supercardioid pickup pattern and ability to handle ‘extremely high SPL’ before clipping aids a natural sound with low distortion whilst rejecting unwanted background noise. The microphone has a frequency range of 20Hz – 20kHz and a sensitivity of 16mV/Pa; -36dB at +/-3dB, 1kHz. Maximum SPL is 135dB before clipping with a dynamic range of 110dB typical. Total harmonic distortion (THD) is 130dB SPL RMS, and 133dB SPL peak. The 3-pin XLR terminated versions require +48V phantom power for full performance.

Adapters and Accessories

A range of MicroDot adapters are available to allow the connection between microphone and audio input device. See DPA MICROPHONES - MicroDot adapters and cables. DPA miniature and subminiature accessories, including mounts, foam windshields, and extension cables are also available. See DPA MICROPHONES - Spares and Accessories
