US-16x08
Tascam US-16x08 interface offers a combination of 16 microphone and line inputs. With recording capability up to 96kHz/24-bit, the eight microphone preamps provide ‘clean and quiet’ operation while delivering up to 56dB of gain. An additional eight balanced line inputs are provided, two of them switchable to instrument level for direct guitar or bass recording. Eight balanced line outputs are also available, two with a level control on the front panel for monitoring.
When no USB connection is recognised, US-16x08 can be used as a microphone preamplifier in standalone mode. In this mode, the signals from the XLR inputs on the front are output from the TRS jacks on the rear of the unit. Tested with Sonar, ProTools, Cubase, Live, Studio One, and Garage Band, the interface includes MIDI inputs and outputs so that they can also be used as MIDI interfaces.
Using the same preamps as used in the Tascam HS-P82 professional recorders, the interface can handle both condenser and dynamic mics. The ‘versatile’ preamps also feature line-level inputs for keyboards and other equipment. US-16x08 also features a built-in DSP Mixer for low-latency digital mixing. Each channel has four-band EQ and compression for polished-sounding monitor mixes.
Windows and Mac drivers are provided, as well as USB Class Compliant 2.0 drivers for tablets like the Apple iPad. MIDI input and output are also available on the rear panel.

Tascam US-1x2HR is the smallest member of the Tascam US-HR series USB audio interfaces. With ‘HR’ denoting ‘high-resolution’, this interface has one mic and one instrument input and is therefore particularly suitable for simple 2-channel recording with a computer. US-1x2HR is also suitable for podcast creation and live streaming due to the included loopback function and support for Open Broadcaster Software (OBS Studio). The interface weight 623g and is therefore suitable for mobile recording and production using an iPhone or iPad with the included Cubasis LE. Note: an optional BP-6AA battery pack or AC adapter is required when used with iPhone or iPad.
The balanced, 3-pin XLR mic input on the US-1x2HR can provide 48-volts phantom power to condenser mics and it offers gain up to 57dB for compatibility with dynamic mics. US-1x2HR offers an instrument input for direct connection of an electrical guitar or bass. This means you can record or stream your instrument without the need for an instrument amplifier. You can also connect external equipment to the US-1x2HR like a cassette deck, CD player or smartphone using a conversion cable.
From the Settings Panel, which is installed on your computer, the user can choose whether direct monitoring is done in mono or stereo and adjust the balance between input and computer signals. You can also switch the hardware inputs on and off individually and set the Windows buffer size according to your working environment. For online broadcasting, internet communication and other live streaming applications, US-HR series interfaces offer a Loopback function which can merge input signals 1/2 with signals 1/2 coming from the computer. These can be set to mono or stereo and send the mix to the broadcasting or other software on the computer. A software slider allows to adjust the final ‘broadcast’ volume independently from the unit’s line output level setting.
When used with a computer, US-1x2HR is powered by USB so a separate power supply is not required. If the unit is connected to an iPhone or iPad an optional PS-P520E, 5V power supply or BP-6AA battery pack is required. An original Apple AC adapter can also be used, however pass through power is not provided to the iOs device. A genuine Apple Lightning-USB adapter is also required for operation with an iPhone/iPad.
