BEYERDYNAMIC MICROPHONES - Ribbon

Designed in the 'sixties specifically for use by the pop-music revolution and for broadcast presenters disgruntled by having to face a 'brick' on-air, the Beyerdynamic ribbon microphones have remained a firm favourite. More recently, with the advent of digital recording, they have made a comeback; the smooth, sympathetic response of the ribbon principle resulting in what is known by audio luminaries as a 'natural warm sound'. The below microphones have had another facelift before being newly released in 2023.

M 130 - Figure of Eight

Beyerdynamic M 130 is double ribbon microphone with a casing manufactured from brass and a diaphragm made from pure aluminium. The figure-of-eight polar pattern has been designed for use with musical instruments, particularly strings piano and harp. Can also be paired with the M 160 microphone to create an MS pair for stereo recording.

Included accessories: MA-CL 25 microphone clamp with 3/8-inch internal thread.

Transducer type: Dynamic. Frequency response: 40Hz to 18kHz. Polar pattern: Figure-eight. Rear attenuation: Greater than 30dB at 90degrees, at 1kHz. Sensitivity: 1.3mV/Pa, -57.5dBV. Nominal impedance: 200ohms. Load impedance: Greater than or equal to 1000ohms. Dimensions: 128mm, length; 23mm, shaft diameter; 38.5mm, head diameter. Weight: 160g.

M 160 - Hypercardioid

The classic hand-held vocal microphone featuring a double-ribbon mechanism which gives a true hyper-cardioid response. M 160 will also capture complex instruments such as triangle, piano, viola and violin with accuracy and precision. The microphone can also be paired with the M 130 microphone to create an MS pair for stereo recording.

Included accessories: MA-CL 25 microphone clamp with 3/8-inch internal thread.

Transducer type: Dynamic. Frequency response: 40Hz to 18kHz. Polar pattern: Hypercardioid. Rear attenuation: Greater than 25dB at 110degrees, at 1kHz. Sensitivity: 1.0mV/Pa, -60dBV. Nominal impedance: 200ohms. Load impedance: Greater than or equal to 1000ohms. Dimensions: 164mm, length; 23mm, shaft diameter; 38mm, head diameter. Weight: 192g.
