CANFORD OUTSIDE BROADCAST BREAKOUT STAGEBOXES - MIL26, Tourline 25, Tourline 37, Tourline 54

This range of robust breakout or stage boxes is designed to withstand the rigours of life on the road. Two types are available, fitted with either the UK standard outside broadcast, MIL26 bayonet-lock military style connectors or Tourline MIL-C-5015 style connectors, which mate with similar connectors from several manufacturers. MIL versions are eight channels, Tourline versions are eight, twelve or sixteen channels.

MIL26

Traditionally used by UK broadcasters, BS 9522 style MIL26 connectors are used extensively for eight-channel cable systems.

MIL-C-5015 - Tourline 25, Tourline 37 and Tourline 54

The Tourline 25 (8 channel) Tourline 37 (12 channel) and Tourline 54 (16 channel) series fully inter-mate with similar connector series derived from the MIL-C-5015 / VG95234 specifications, used widely throughout Europe for both broadcast and live performance applications.

Three styles are offered for each connector type, fitted either with a male (plug), female (socket) or with both male and female multipin connectors in 'feedthrough' versions. Each has eight, twelve or sixteen pairs of latching XLR male and female connectors, wired in parallel. Circuits are identified by numbers printed on the top plate. Connectors are labelled in pairs as 1 to 8, 1 to 12, except in the case of the largest stagebox, where connectors are individually labelled 1 to 16 (males) and 1 to 16 (females).

Experience has shown that plastic components, particularly end plates, do not always stand up to life on the road, so these breakout boxes feature an extremely rugged all-metal construction.
The wide base of the compact trapezoid box offers great stability resisting ‘rolling’ even if cables are pulled. The narrow section top allows efficient packing and weight saving for transit. All types are supplied with latching nickel-silver XLR connectors and a Canford designed added feature of two ‘runners’ incorporated to the underside. These raise the unit off the ground, out of surface water while also acting as runners allowing the box to slide easily if dragged by the multicore cable during rigging. Internal MIL and Tourline pin terminations are individually shrouded with oiled silicone sleeves to avoid short circuits resulting from the inevitable ingress of water and dirt through the XLR connectors.

The male plus female 'feedthrough' versions enable these breakout stage boxes to be connected inline or 'daisy-chained', giving microphone and talkback access at various points along multi-cable runs.

MIL types are wired to the 26-pin BBC standard (see datasheet 02-213). Tourline types are wired to the industry standard convention (see data sheet 02-226). Wiring convention data sheets are available as a free download from the 'Tech Zone' at www.canford.co.uk or by contacting Technical Support.

Other connector configurations and wiring standards are available to special order.
