LINTEC RADIO ANTENNAE

Yagi Receiving Antennae

Intended for fixed or mobile use, for outside broadcasts or location work, these are commonly used to increase reception range with radio microphone systems and other programme links. Note that by the principle of reciprocity, similar range increases would be obtained by using the antennae at the transmit end, but this is not recommended since it will probably increase the effective radiated power beyond the licensed level. They are all available with customer specified centre frequencies.

Substantially constructed from aluminium (except for model FLBY which also has flexible elements), the Yagis are supplied complete with a BNC connector on a 1.5 metre flying lead, and clamp for poles up to 25mm. The FLBY has flexible elements which is useful for the purposes of tracking subjects, as elements that are hit by objects (such as trees, bushes or other operators!) will flex and return to normal, whilst still receiving a signal.

Type Elements Centre frequency range Nominal Gain Working range
LBY 3 175-215 MHz 6dB ±5MHz
LMBY 4 216-479 MHz 7dB ±5MHz
UMBY 5 586-784 MHz 8dB ±10MHz
HBY 7 785-850 MHz 10dB ±15MHz
HHBY 7 850-950 MHz 10dB ±15MHz
FLBY 3 150-600 MHz 6dB ±2MHz

Impedance 50 ohms

Wide-band Dipole Antennae

Built inside grey plastic tubes, with attached 1.5 metre cable and BNC type connectors (other terminations available to special order - contact Sales), these 50 ohm devices are suitable for reception and transmission up to 50W. They are supplied complete with versatile spring clamps for attachment to fences, trees and many other convenient fixtures, very handy when on location. MBD and HBD types are not true dipoles in that they are fitted with reflectors to give up to 3dB gain, but are available as true dipoles without reflectors to special order (contact Sales). This will lead to a 3dB drop in gain and to compensate, clip on reflectors can be used to re-acquire this 3dB of gain. Customers must specify which model of dipole the clip-on reflector is to be used with, when ordering.

Type Working Range
LBD 175-217MHz
LMBD 350-450MHz
MMBD 450-550MHz
UMBD 550-650MHz
LHBD 650-750MHz
HBD 750-880MHz

Impedance 50 ohms.

UHF Co-linear Antennae

The UCAN4 is an omni-directional UHF antenna, constructed to an extremely rugged design, supplied complete with universal plastic mounting spring clamp. Terminated with TNC connector, supplied complete with TNC-BNC adapter. 4dB gain, 50 ohms. Length including connector 540mm. Working range 820-920MHz (Suitable for Ch.69 radiomics).

DAB Antennae

Two 50 ohm antennae designed specifically for DAB reception. One is a dipole, based on the LBD wideband design (see above), but tuned to the DAB band 217.5 - 230MHz. It is constructed inside a grey plastic tube (available in white to special order - contact Sales), with a 1.5m cable terminated in a BNC, and is supplied complete with plastic spring-clamp for poles of up to 25mm. The other is a 5-element yagi with 8dB gain, VSWR >2:1, length 1.18m.

UHF Ground Plane Antennae

50ohm ground plane antennae with omnidirectional coverage of the frequency bands 610, 694, 806, 860 or 880 MHz at up to 50 watts. VSWR < 2:1 across bandwidth. Gain 0dB. Front to back ratio 6dB. It is terminated with a female N-type connector on the base (BNC, TNC, SMA or N-type male or female also available to special order) and can be attached to a standard microphone stand, with vertical polarisation, using the internal mount. It is available with a customer specified centre frequency and as wide (100MHz) or narrow (16MHz) bandwidth options. The wide bandwidth option also includes a pre-terminated, 5m extension feeder cable.

Flexible FM Broadcast Band Whip Antennae

The Lintec FM whip antenna is a flexible 1/4 wave loaded, 50 ohm antenna approximately 600mm long, designed to cover the band 88 to 108MHz.With its multiple spring steel wire construction and special top quality plastic covering, the whip will flex easily yet withstand rough treatment.

The whip is available terminated with the following options:

PL259: A straight or right-angled PL259 (“83 series”) plug allowing direct connection to a mounting socket fitted to a vehicle roof or sidepanel (see Canford stock codes 48-846 and 48-848). As the antenna requires a ground-plane the vehicle roof should be metallic.
BNC: A straight or right-angled BNC plug allowing direct connection to a panel; see Index: BNC connectors. As the antenna requires a ground plane, provision should be made for this.
Mag-Mount: Fixed directly to a magnetic mount the antenna is terminated with a BNC on a 1.5 metre cable.

Miniature Antennae, 50 ohms types:

Flexible

Quarter-wave whip type, fitted with Lemo 00 series plugs (with or without key) for Micron, Lemo 01 series plugs for Trantec systems, BNC male (straight or right-angled), N-type (straight, right-angled, male or female), PL259 “83 series” male (straight or right-angled) or SMA male (straight or right-angled) terminations. These are base-loaded, and have the unusual property of retaining their shape when bent even at right angles - eminently suitable for portable diversity applications. Working range ± 5MHz approx. It is available with a customer specified centre frequency of up to (and including) 950MHz.

Helical

Quarter-wave whip type, fitted with BNC male (straight or right-angled), N-type (straight, right-angled, male or female) or PL259 “83 series” male (straight or right-angled) terminations. Working range: ± 5MHz approx. It is available with a customer specified centre frequency of up to (and including) 950MHz.

Dipole T-piece

Fitted with three BNC female connectors and a sprung clamp for attaching to convenient fixtures or poles, this serves to connect an antenna down lead with two straight whip or helical antennae to give a small, versatile dipole, again very useful when on location. Available together with two helical or two flexible whip antennae (please specify) to a customer specified centre frequency of up to (and including) 950MHz.

Downlead

Canford manufactured, 5 metres of URM43 cable fitted with two BNC connectors.

Universal and Spring Antennae Clamps

Designed to solve the problem of fixing Lintec radio-mic antennas to lighting or scaffolding bars, which are too large for the supplied fixing kit, this “U-clamp” type fixing is suitable for use with any bar up to 55mm diameter. Original replacement clamps (for 25.5mm poles) are also now available.
A larger version of the “spring-clamp” type fixing, as supplied with dipoles, is also available for 55mm poles along with replacement clamps for 25.5mm poles.
