IEC-LOCK IEC 60320 (CEE22) AC MAINS POWER CONNECTORS

These patented design, IEC 60320 connectors have an internal locking mechanism which mates with and locks to any male C14 (inlet), to provide a simple way of securing a power cable to any electrical equipment. They are invaluable for use with critical equipment, either free-standing or rack-mounted and in areas subject to vibration, such as outside broadcast vehicles, touring and 'fly-away' kit, where standard connectors may become dislodged in transit. They are available in two forms; female C13 type (outlet) cable connectors for use between appliances and their mains power sources and female F type (outlet) panel connectors for use as an interconnection between one appliance and another.

The internal locking mechanism grips the earth pin in the male connector, preventing accidental removal of the cable connector. The latch is released on the cable connector by pulling an external sliding handle, which can be gripped from four sides for straight connectors, and three sides for angled connectors. For the panel connectors, the latch is released by pressing a small button. No separate release tool is required.

The C13 type cable connectors are available in straight or angled types. The orientation of angled types can be changed from right-angle to left-angle for horizontal models; for vertical models, down-angle to up-angle. This is achieved by removing the two-part outer shell from the main connector, and replacing each part on the opposite side. All types have professional-type screw terminals (wire receptacle hole and cross clamp-screw), wire size up to 1.50 mm sq. (16 AWG). They are non-keyed ('cold condition'), rated 10 amp 250V AC 50/60Hz. Body materials are 'LFH' ('LSOH/LSZH'). Maximum cable diameter 8.5mm.

The F type panel connectors have 6.3 x 0.8mm spade tab connections, and are of the snap-in style design. Panel cutout 32.4/32.6 x 29.7/29.9mm, panel thickness 1.0 – 1.5mm. Rated current 10 amps.

Ready made cables are also available, terminated to standard IEC male plugs, bare ends, UK 13A and SCHUKO CE7/7 (right-angle) plugs. See AC Mains Power Leads - IEC-Lock+ and see AC Mains Power Leads - IEC-Lock and see AC Mains Power Leads - IEC-Lock - Angled Connectors.

Note: sometimes referred to as CEE22, this was the former standard before being eventually incorporated into IEC 60320.
