A range of AC mains power management and distribution units, with advanced remote control and communication functions, depending on model. All models have IEC 10 amp connectors for outputs and Powercon connectors for input. Horizontal types are housed in 1U rackmount enclosures, 340mm deep (including lacing bar), and include designation strips; the vertical model is 1767mm high, 55mm wide and 64mm deep. Total rated load for all horizontal units is 16 amps; 32 amps per inlet for the vertical model.
MDU12-PAi Power Management Unit
Discontinued
The MDU-12PAi 12-output power management unit measures current, power and power factor, providing total visibility of broadcast systems energy usage. The comprehensive reporting of rack equipment status using the 16 General Purpose Interface (GPI) connection permit the systems supervisor to have complete visibility of the health of the rack, with monitoring status and alerts if pre-set limits are exceeded.
The units offer programmable alerts via email, SMS (via external gateway), SNMP traps and 16 opto-isolated GPI inputs. These include notification of fuse failure and over/under current consumption by outlet, together with input-supply fail and internal temperature over limits. For simple control and tracking of system status, the unit contains a straightforward web-based configuration-tool offering status, systems, SNMP settings and GPI input pages. Current, power and power factor are measured for each outlet and in total.
Front-panel fuse status indication is by tri-colour LEDs, and a 16 amp double-pole thermal over-current switch provides trip-free resettable action.
MDU12-PMi Power Management Unit
Discontinued
The MDU12PMi has all the features of the MDU12-PAi but includes individual relay-switched outputs for individual equipment control. The relay-switched outputs which facilitate the system control and monitoring function can also be used to switch off non-essential equipment during out of hours operation, or when energy-limited standby sources are being used. This can generate significant power savings on a daily basis, as well as extending broadcast uptime during prolonged power outages. It also offers the additional benefit of extending the equipment life of both the systems and associated air conditioning infrastructure. As equipment for power down can be selected at the system integration phase, with pre-configured power maps defined by the system architects, the power-down sequence is reduced to a one-switch operator function. When power is restored, this can be done automatically and safely using the inbuilt programmable sequential power-up function.
Outlet switching can be immediate, sequential or by user-configured delay start-up. The unit returns to the last configuration once the power-up sequence has completed should a complete power fail occur.
Available as a 32 amp variant - MDU12-PMi-32A.
MDU12-PM Power Management Unit
Discontinued
This is similar to the MDU12-PMi but without current and power monitoring.
MDU-14CO Power Changeover Unit
Discontinued
This 14-way mains distribution unit has dual supply inputs and automatically changes over in the event of failure in less than 30msec. The front panel includes a 16 amp double-pole resettable breaker/switch plus input 'master' selector and change-over controls. Input status and individual channel fuse status are indicated by tri-colour LEDs. The unit can also be operated remotely via an RS232 link available on a rear-panel 9 pin D-sub connector. Inputs are on 2 Powercon connectors.
MDU14-B Mains Distribution Unit
Discontinued
This 14-way single input mains distribution unit has a 16 amp double pole resettable breaker/switch and 'power on' green LED indicators for each circuit.
Available as a 32 amp variant - MDU14B-32A.
MDU2-CO Power Changeover Unit, dual output
Designed for rack-mounted equipment requiring an uninterruptable power supply, the MDU-CO2 supplies power to any mains distribution units. The dual-input power supplies are routed through a set of master change-over relays with control circuitry that detects power presence. In the event of an input failure, the unit seamlessly switches to a backup power supply in less than 30ms, which means that equipment is un-affected by the changeover. No load is taken from the backup supply when the MDU-CO2 is idle.
Power is fed from the MDU-CO2's relays to a double-pole mains switch/circuit breaker on the unit's front panel, which feeds the two outputs for a maximum total power output of 16 amps. The unit has configurable Master or Slave control capability so that when the master power is restored the unit will switch back to the original source, thus ensuring that backup power isn't used unnecessarily. Advanced negligible on-resistance relays provide the additional benefits of cool running and lower energy consumption.
The front panel includes a 16 amp double-pole resettable breaker/switch plus input 'master' selector and change-over controls. Input status is indicated by tri-colour LEDs with single colour LEDs for equipment status indication. Input and output connectors are all Powercon, mating connectors supplied. This unit carries no front-panel manufacturer branding.
This vertical 40-way dual input mains distribution unit has two 32 amp Powercon inputs, each powering twenty IEC C13 outputs. Each output is individually fused, meaning a failure will not affect the entire rack. A colour coded LED status indicator on each output also identifies which input is supplying power. The unit can mount from the rear or sides for extra flexibility. Dimensions: 1767 x 55 x 64mm.
