Canford have supplied over £20k of Tecpro comms and Ampetronic Induction loop systems for installation in a new build, 700 seat capacity theatre in the region of Thrace, North Eastern Greece. The theatre will perform a multi-role function as a venue. The installation work was carried out by long term Canford partner Telmaco.
LS311, LS312, LS312F and
LS332 Loudspeaker Stations
In part, this Tecpro communications system is notable for its use of 24 LS300 Series loudspeaker stations employing a mix of the speaker options available. This range of speaker outstations is designed to cover a wide range of applications at modest price. They can be used in a push-to-talk mode with the built-in microphone, or fitted with a plug-in gooseneck microphone for hands-free duplex communications. Alternatively, when required, plugging a headset or handset into the front panel turns the unit into a headset outstation, automatically muting the loudspeaker.
Variations in use within this system include the multi-circuit LS312T wallbox type and the multi-circuit LS312F flush mount version. Also specified were the LS332 which is a rackmount multi-circuit speaker station and the LS311T a versatile single circuit wall mounted unit for fixing at key locations within this theatre.
Also supplied were SMH210 single capsule headsets enabling the operators to hear both Foldback and ambient sound simultaneously. Alongside these, 16 BP117 dual circuit beltpacks were required plus the new PS753 power supplies, part of the recently launched Tecpro2 range. Each PS753 can provide up to three independent intercom circuits and can support up to 45 of the BP111 beltpacks or 9 Tecpro loudspeaker stations.
Ampetronic are industry leaders in the production and experts in the field of induction loop systems and their installation. Since Canford are prominent distributors of their range it was natural that Telmaco came to us for their requirements. The basis for the system was Ampetronic’s CLD1-CD induction loop driver. This unit is designed for small area perimeter loops and counter systems. It features a desk-top electret microphone and when used as a perimeter loop, has a coverage of 35 square metres. ILR3 loop receivers are also used in the theatre which enables listeners with hearing impairment, but without hearing aids to pick up the sound being broadcast through the loop. It also permits testing of the loops effectiveness.
The new theatre has been built in the town of Komotini in the region of Thrace not far from the border with Turkey. It is anticipating becoming a cultural hub within the immediate area and will be used for a wide range of activities including classical and modern theatre, musical performances, local and regional political and special interest assemblies as well as for schools’ and colleges’ productions and activities.
Thrace, has a long and interesting history and was a kingdom in its own right covering North Eastern modern Greece and parts of Northern Turkey and Southern Bulgaria. At different points in time it has been part of the Macedonian Empire, the Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire. Thracian soldiers were greatly valued by the Macedonian kings and many accompanied Alexander The Great on his conquests.
