Exhibiting from the familiar location in Hall 11, Stand D01, Canford will offer clients a unique “touch and feel” rig, which will allow comparisons between all the 9.2mm SMPTE fibre cables that Canford stocks and uses in its camera cables assembly unit – Furukawa, Draka, Belden and OCC.
This new service from Canford, introduced early in 2017, can offer very short lead times as substantial quantities of Lemo connectors and the bulk cable are held in stock. Also on the rig will be Canford’s special deployable Category cables, designed specifically for Audio and Video applications, together with the new Telegartner ruggedised Cat6A and Cat7 RJ45 connectors and cable couplers.
Visitors to the Canford stand will also have an opportunity to review the company’s latest production prototypes.
The Canford 4-way SMPTE 311 Breakout Enclosure can be wall or ceiling mounted, and will be manufactured to accept either 2, 4 or 6 incoming SMPTE 311M cables. These units are designed to enable the respective fibre and electrical core to be broken out to LC (or SC) bulkheads and 6 pin Mate-N-Lok panel connectors.
Similar to the Canford range of rack mountable, field termination boxes, they offer not only the possibility of a “plug and play” approach but also simplify the process of on-site installation and maintenance. The new SMPTE Breakout Enclosures will be particularly useful in installations where depth is an issue as the SMPTE cable can be brought away from the rear of the panel, then terminated elsewhere in a safe and secure manner.
The enclosures are also provided with a shroud to offer additional protection against accidental damage to the breakout connections. The enclosures come supplied with the required fibre patch cords, electrical crimp contacts and splice protector sleeves to help facilitate easy installation.
Another Canford manufacturing prototype on display at IBC 2017 will be the Canford 1U Angled 12 Way opticalCON DUO SMPTE Field Termination Box. These 1U rack enclosures will be manufactured to accept either 8 or 12 Neutrik opticalCON connectors and are designed to facilitate easy on-site termination.
This range will be fitted with Neutrik NO2-4DW-1A SMPTE DUO connectors and blue singlemode flanges. The electrical contacts on the connectors will be terminated to 6 pin Mate-N-Lok male panel connectors which in turn terminates to a female bulkhead connector fitted within the enclosure. A 24 way splice tray and 2 cable management spools are also provided within the case.
During installation the SMPTE 311M cable is brought into the enclosure and the electrical conductors are fitted with the supplied crimp contacts before being inserted into the female Mate-N-Lok bulkhead connector. The fibre cores are routed via the cable management spools to the splice tray and spliced to the provided LC patch cords before connecting to the rear of the DUO connector. The enclosure will come supplied with all of the required components to facilitate easy installation.
In conjunction with the new ranges of SMPTE field termination boxes, and in keeping Canford’s reputation for understanding what customers want, Canford will for the first time be demonstrating a true “Plug and Play” solution which effectively eliminates any requirement to terminate fibre on site.
The recently introduced Canford MDU15 will make its exhibition debut too. Designed and manufactured by Canford, the MDU15 provides 12 Universal Locking IEC power outlets. This mains distribution unit is intended for applications prone to vibration or where equipment is regularly re-positioned, such as in outside broadcast, touring, hire and fly-away systems.
The Canford stand will also feature distributed brand, BEL Digital Audio with demonstrations of several products, to include the new BEL BM-A1-64DANTE confidence monitor. The BM-A1-64DANTE AoIP monitor is designed to provide audible monitoring as well as visual signal strength indication and audio breakouts.
BEL’s AoIP monitor is suitable for a wide range of applications in the broadcast, fixed installation and live sound markets. It provides a significant advantage for simultaneously monitoring both AES67 and Dante streams. The team will display AES67 monitoring over RAVENNA and Dante audio networks. In addition, a selection of BEL audio and video/audio in-rack monitors, audio synchronisation delays and multi-format converters will be available.
