SENNHEISER RADIOMICS - Evolution G4 series

Compatible with Sennheiser Evolution G3 systems, Evolution G4 series of radio systems are available as complete systems or in component form. Transmitter types include handheld, plug-in or bodypack for use with instruments or lavalier microphones. The range includes both battery-powered receivers for use in ENG, and static AC-powered receivers for use on the desktop or mounted in a rack. All G4 series transmitters and receivers have ‘sturdy metal housing’ for robustness.

Evolution EW100 G4 series features include a 42MHz bandwidth with 1,680 tuneable frequencies, a frequency bank system with up to 12 compatible frequencies, true-diversity reception, automatic frequency scanning for available frequencies, pilot tone squelch, wireless synchronisation of transmitter from receiver, illuminated display, HDX compander, integrated EQ and ‘soundcheck mode’, and 4-step transmitter battery status indication on both transmitter and receiver. Transmitters have an RF output power of 30mW.

Evolution EW300 G4 series has the functionality of EW100 G4 series, however in addition the illuminated graphic display on the receiver shows the transmitter settings, and an Ethernet port is included for linking to Sennheiser Wireless Systems Manager. The main difference of the EW300 G4 series is that is has the capability of up to 24 compatible frequencies within 20 frequency banks. Transmitters have an RF output power of 50mW.

Evolution EW500 G4 series shares the functionality of the EW300 G4 series however it allows up to 32 compatible frequencies.

Sennheiser Evolution G4 series can be purchased in complete systems or as individual parts, and have frequency ranges denoted by their model number suffix:

EM 100 G4 - Fixed

With up to twenty compatible channels and up to 42MHz bandwidth, this true-diversity fixed receiver, housed in a metal case, is present in most of the Sennheiser G4 Evolution 100 series wireless systems. It is powered with the included NT2-3 UK power supply and can be secured into a rack case by using the included GA 3 rack mounting adapter. The rear panel houses the DC power inlet and cable grip, balanced audio output via a 3-pin XLR, unbalanced audio output via a 6.35mm jack, 2x data ports for use in connection to a compatible computer running Sennheiser Wireless Systems Manager software, and 2x BNC antenna connections. The white, front facing side of the receiver has an illuminated graphical LCD displaying information including RF signal, AF level, transmitter battery status, frequency selection, group, and menu functionality. Controls include a 'Sync' button for infrared connection between receiver and transmitter, up/down cursors, 'Set' button, 'ESC' escape button and power on/off button. EM 300-500 G4 - Fixed

This diversity receiver is shared between both 300 and 500 series G4 systems and is present in most Sennheiser Evolution 300 G4 and 500 G4 series wireless systems. It is powered with the included NT2-3 UK power supply and can be secured into a rack case by using the included GA 3 rack mounting adapter. The front facing panel of the all-metal receiver housing has an OLED display, giving access to menu options and displaying information including current frequency, channel number, RF-level metering, AF level, lock status, pilot tone evaluation, muting and battery status of the associated transmitter.

Controls on the front panel include a 'Sync' button for infrared connection between receiver and transmitter; rotary jog wheel with push set, 'ESC' button, and power button. A stereo, 6.35mm jack, headphone output along with a rotary headphone output level control is positioned to the left. The rear panel houses all other connectivity, including the 12V/300mA DC power inlet and cable grip, +18dBu balanced audio output via a 3-pin XLR, +12dBu unbalanced audio output via a 6.35mm jack, and single data port for use in connection to a compatible computer running Sennheiser Wireless Systems Manager software. Two BNC antenna connections allow for attachment of the two included rod antennae or connection to compatible remote antenna hardware. Dimensions (WxDxH): 190 x 212 x 43mm. Weight: 980g.

SKM 100 G4 - Handheld

SKM100 G4 is a handheld transmitter with a metal body designed for vocals whether sung or spoken. Powered by two 1.5V AA batteries or a BA 2015 that can be inserted into the body of the microphone via a hidden threaded compartment, the handheld microphone has an operating time of around 8 hours under normal operation. All models have set-up and menu cursor buttons, multi-function switch and fixed antenna at the base of the microphone shaft. A backlit screen gives the user intuitive feedback on current settings.

The transmitter is available in complete systems with a choice of five microphone capsules, all with mute switch. They are also available without capsules, with and without mute switch. The models without capsules are compatible with Sennheiser MMD, MME, and MMK microphone capsules, see below. Each transmitter is offered in two configurations of the operating frequency. One is channel 69/70 ready at 823-865MHz, the other is channel 38 ready at 606-648Mhz. Dimensions (LxD): 265 x 50mm. Weight: 450g, without capsule.

An illuminated liquid crystal display (LCD) on the front facing panel indicates status and shows menu options. A 2.5mm jack socket is provided to connect the optional RMS 1 external switch, to control user-assignable options including AF on/off, RF on/off, 'push-to-mute', and 'push-to-talk'. SKM 300 G4-S - Handheld

This is a handheld transmitter with a metal body, designed for vocals whether sung or spoken. MMD 835-1 BK - Dynamic, cardioid

Sennheiser describe the MM 435 capsule to have 'nuanced resolution and transparency'. It has a large diaphragm diameter and a frequency response of 40-20,000Hz. With a maximum SPL of 163dB and dynamic range of 146dB(A), MM 435 is designed for live vocals in high volume conditions.


MM 445 - Dynamic, super-cardioid

This microphone head has very similar attributes as the MM 435 however the pickup pattern is super-cardioid and is therefore more resistant to background noise and feedback.
