Canford are delighted to announce that they have been appointed as distributor for the Neutrik Xirium digital wireless audio network. Xirium was designed for situations where the use of audio cable runs is inappropriate but where a stable connection and first class signal quality must be maintained.
Operating in the license exempt 5 GHz frequency band, the system can send or receive up to eight channels of uncompressed, studio quality 48 kHz, 24 bit audio with only 3 milliseconds latency per circuit. A specially developed (DIWA) transmit and receive protocol together with patented error correction results in robust, noise free operation even in the presence of heavy local RF traffic. To maximise RF coverage, the diversity antenna system can be augmented with optional, directional antennas.
The TRX 4 channel base station provides up to 4 audio channels which can be either transmit or receive, or a combination of both, e.g. 2 transmit and 2 receive. An additional TRX station can be linked to double the channel count to eight.
To complement the TRX base station, a choice of single channel roving or fixed (TX) transmitters or (RX) receivers offers flexibility. For example, to supply a line level audio drive to a self-powered loudspeaker, a fixed receiver with DC PSU may be selected, while a battery powered roving transmitter with selectable input gain and 48V phantom power may connect to a microphone, musical instrument or line level source. The FOH mixing console may use a combination of six receivers for audio input and two transmitters for output to the stereo loudspeaker system.
